I liked Heywards AB's for the most part last night. I feel like he is ready to break out. I know the numbers suck for Beej as well but I have a much better feeling about him than I did last year.

Simmons is just an absolute stud.

Surprised Uggla is as low as he is, especially after last night... Guess he was struggling worse than I thought.

And here I was getting all encouraged and ****

yeah, most of us have though Dan was "back" more than a few times in the past couple years and been proven wrong. He's streaky so when he's on a good streak he looks good but the streaks don't last and they're followed by long, abysmal periods.

BJ, OTOH, appears to be gradually coming out of the canyon. If he can keep making contact he'll leg out more hits than most guys. 250 with no power is about all we can hope for from BJ but, after last year that would be fantastic.

Obviously Heyward is going to move up and we are going to need him to step up with those 4 studs eventually coming back down some. Don't expect anything out of BeeJ or Uggla so anything positive is good. Johnson should increase a bit and fall around career averages, I would think. Nice to have a few games at CBP to boost up everyones OPS.

I don't think BJ will ever improve till he changes a major thing in his swing. Now next time you watch him at bat look at his bottom hand on the bat. His hand is in such a location ( back of hand pointing straight up rather than towards the pitcher). Now TRY to swing like that, there is no way you can swing that way. You just cannot do it and get your bat through the hitting zone without being way late. The bat will trail behind no matter how hard you try.

I agree with you on Simmons, the fact he will be here a good long time it sure a sweet thing! He may end up being among the greatest SS ever at the rate he is going, heck he might already be one of, if not the best defensively.

As for BJ look at my other post, I don't see it.

Simmons defensively is going to be an all-time great. If he can just not embarrass himself at the plate, he could be a long-time all star SS. He's a real oddity at the plate. I most similar batter I can find for him is Asdrubel Cabrera. Simmons hitting style doesn't allow his speed to help at all bc he hits so many flyballs. With the flyballs will come above average power for a SS, but he likely will always be a lower average/on base guy bc he doesn't walk and hits the ball in the air. Cabrera is probably the top end of hitters you can hope him to become, but with his style, he's going to be frustratingly inconsistent with the bat.

Playing at least a third of his games in ballparks that are really tough to homer in will certainly hurt him offensively. Not surprisingly, he has great numbers in ballparks where it's easier to hit homers (citizens, Great American) and poor numbers in places where it's really tough to homer (Nationals Park, Marlins Park) and kinda in between at Turner Field.
