Why is Laird/Fredi batting 8th? That's crazy. Laird/Fredi's gonna destroy his self-confidence.

Keep it up Sturg!!!!!!
Fredi, Fredi, Fredi. Look here. You have a guy that has 5 homers in 24 at bats in Philly. same guy has 20 homers in 367 ABs everywhere else.
THink you may want to play him everyday in Philly? No?

Fredi doing the right thing. Gattis has sore knees. And, he can still pinch hit if needed. Great to have that weapon on the bench late...bottom line, it is a long season and Gattis will need a lot of days off.
Since when is it not commonplace to sit your catcher in a day game after a night game?
Nothing really new here. Day game after a night game often means previous night's catcher catches a break. Still there for late inning maneuvers.
Also Gattis spent a lot of time on the base paths last night. All the more reason to give his legs a rest.
Some here said we need to ride Gattis hard like Wood.
My only caveat is Gattis had a day off on Tuesday.
Forever Fredi
Certainly nothing new. I would run him out again and sit him tommorrow. The guy has shown that he can take advantage of the short porches in Philly so I would run him out there again and sit him tomorrow night, which essentially gives him 1.5 days rest.
And its Aj Burnett! Should be able to hit 3-4 homers off him.

Fredi is an "old-school" manager who is incapable of thinking outside of the old-school philosophy.
Since Gattis was off Sunday and Tues. I'd started him today too given his success in Philly, etc. Laird has already caught two of Harang's starts, so I'd just waited to start Laird on Friday.
Plus last night was a very fast game, and Gattis wasn't out there very long in each inning.
He did move Heyward to leadoff... In freakin July when it was obviousl to the entire world he was our best option. Half the posters here (myself included) were begging for that to happen in April.
But he had to go conventional and bat guys like AS and BJ because, that's what is used to be like

Put Gattis in left, Justin moves to right, and Laird should catch.
