    Introductions Are In Order II

Since we have such a wide diverse range of people here, I figure it's a good time to do this. We have a bunch of guys from Scout on here, in addition to some newcomers via referrals or me spamming on Braves Facebook, ESPN Braves Conversation, or other places (hint hint, you should too )

Anyways, here we go I'll start off.

    --------------

I'm Jeff, otherwise known as BravesFanInSAV('03-'13) or KL ('13-Present). 23 years of age, 24 next week. Hailing from Savannah, GA in 'Murica.

Started watching Los Bravos in mid 1990's. Slightly old enough to remember our World Series win in 1995, but remember the pain of 1996 even more.

I found our old place (Fanhome then Scout) when I was introduced to google for the first time in early 2002. Was typing in Atlanta Braves trade rumors and fan home was the first result I believe. Saw the Sheffield deal, became an active poster there in 2003 when our juggernaut offense lead by Javier and Gary were mashing homeruns everywhere. Played baseball some in middle and high school, hurt my shoulder doing something stupid in the outfield... baseball career was done, I picked up a tennis racket in 2007 and now I teach full time. Pretty much all I do now is stalk this site on my phone every 20 minutes, play tennis, teach tennis, lift weights, eat, sleep, and repeat.

I was a very annoying poster when I was younger about 10 years ago and to many probably still today. My obsession was Chipper's left handed swing and if he'd only listen to me... he would've never gone through a slump ever again. Ironically I'm a tennis instructor now so all I do 90% of the time is critique swing mechanics and help fix it.

I was banned at Scout for calling Sam Holbrooke a Piece of **** during the infield fly wild card game, ban was never lifted, so we migrated to here. Rest is history.

    Forever Fredi

    I'm Heyward.

I like to argue until Sav tells me to stop.

I was on scout until everyone kept PM'ing me telling to come to Chop Country.

Disappointed. Thought that PD was being brought back from the dead again.

In the spirit of brotherhood here, we can honor the spirit of this thread instead. I'm Scott, from Buffalo area. Been a Braves fan since childhood during late 70's. First taste of playoffs was '82, same year as incredible start to the season. Joe Torre was manager. Phil Niekro, you know him as Knucksie, wanted to pitch the entire series vs. the Cards. Braves got swept, but recalling listening to game on radio, while delivering newspapers, is nice to think back. The mid to late 80's were just a miserable time, but it was obvious what they were trying to build. The process could've been accelerated by at least a year, but enough of my prior posts have pontificated on the matter. If there's an urge to discuss again, we can wait for the proper inspiration.

Actually, the fondest memories were prior to actually winning the '95 WS. All of the baseball preview magazines (that's how we used to do things) predicted them to finish last again in '91. In fact, they were probably still considered the worst team in the NL, going into the season. Something just felt different with Schuerholz and the moves that he started making - Pendleton, Bream and Nixon were huge. They needed solid defense to support the up and coming pitchers (Glavine, Smoltz, Avery, Lilliquist, Pete Smith). The loss to the Twins was disappointing, but it was just amazing to even make it that far.

After the loss to the Blue Jays, there was talking of "Buffalo Bills of baseball." So, finally doing it vs. the Indians with that modern day Murderers Row batting order was relief. Too bad that they couldn't have put an exclamation point against the Yankees. The feeling of that Leyritz HR bothered me at the time, but there was no way to know how damaging it would prove. If they'd held on, they'd have been up 3-0 and probably swept the series.

Biggest disappointments were Smoltz's surgeries and Big Cat's cancer. The latter contributed to Chipper's MVP season, as he put the team on his back.

Single greatest moment was Sid's slide.

Mike from Utah here: Been a Braves fan since the mid 1970's when the Superstation meant you could follow a team enough to get to know them without iving in a MLB City.

Found the old Access Atlanta board over 20 years go, then migrated to Scout and then here. Try to get to a game or two every couple of years. I have made fans out of my 78 year old father and my whole family. We all follow religiously.

I have never posted much, but check the board every day, sometimes several times for information. The only time I stay away is when the majority of threads break down into pi$$ing matches, that have more to do with someone else being wrong than the point being made.

    58 years old tomorrow.

    Greetings Ladies & Gents

My name is Cindy and I'm 30 years old. From Scout..... Was NJC108 and some other names. I just prefer to lurk. Most of the time I'm not logged in here. It's funny cause I've always wanted to do YNOT ( I mean for years). I promised myself this year I would participate. I just forget or too busy. Grew up in NJ as a Braves fan watching TBS during the mid 90's. I've now made it to the land of Dixie a year ago here in South Georgia. I'm so excited to be living here where I can watch my team for free.

How I became a Braves Fan: I was a bad child. My grandfather was watching baseball (the Mets). I wanted to watch cartoons. He told me NO and I told him " fine if I have to watch boring baseball then I'm going to root against your team". The Mets happen to be playing the Braves who stomped the Mets and the rest is history. Fav players was David Justice and Javy Lopez ( I was a teen girl... They were hot... Lol). Grew to respect Chipper Jones. My grandfather was a Brooklyn Dodgers fan. Watched a ton of baseball in his life and he respected Chipper Jones and his pure talent and passion for the game.

Must say that I owe Skip, Don, Pete, Joe and Ted Turner huge thanks. They made baseball fun to watch (along with the players) and easy to understand. Without those guys I won't have been able to watch baseball back in NJ. Especially loved Skip and his made up people who would catch foul balls etc.

First Braves Game: Shea stadium. Hank Aaron Day. I think it was 1999. I remember Kevin Millwood pitching. We won I think 4-0. It was just hot as hell. We left halfway thru the game. My uncle (mets fan) who took me to the game was drunk and miserable. His team was loosing and all the mets fans were starting to curse us out because I was a Braves fan and mouthing off at their team. What can I say I'm a Jersey Gal with a big freakin mouth.

Worst Memories: 96'& 99 '. I was in middle school and high school during that time. None of my MFing classmates were talking Yankee this or that pre 96. Oh those years hurt my soul. I grew up in the burbs of NJ so many of my female and male classmates went to the parades. I had one friend ask me if I wanted to go to the 99 parade. GTFOH with that BS. So from then on I root against all NY/NJ teams except Devils & Giants (have a signed ball from David Tyree). I love NY sports radio when they cry. It's like christmas to me. I remember Steve Summers from WFAN playing Taps one intro when the braves beat down the Mets. I loved that!!!!

    - First and only time at the Ted was Cox last playoff game against San Fran I think( 2009 or 2010... I have a bad memory). It's all a blur. I was dating this Mets fan. He sucked all the fun out of the weekend. My damn team lost and I ended up with a $1500 speeding tix from Tifton GA.

Im hoping to go to more Braves games but my work schedule does not allow it plus I help take care of a severely special needs child. Plus the 4 hour commute stinks. Also no one in my family likes the Braves :-( I don't want to travel by myself.

Sorry for my dissertation.. I gotta big mouth what can I say lol

I'm Scott originally from central Georgia and now living in Savannah. 25 and a fan since I was little and watching with my dad, but first memories are winning in '95.

Was at the Leyritz game in '96 and sitting among Yankee fans. Have hated that team ever since.

I'm a card-carrying member of the Fredi G. Foundation for Critical Baseball Analysis.

I'm Nick Sacpi. I started following the Braves when Bad Henry was closing in on 714. My brother and I watched all the Braves games we could and listened to even more with Milo and Ernie on the radio. At the time the Marlins and Rays did not exist, so to a couple kids growing up in Florida the Bravos were the closest thing to a home team. My formative experiences as a fan came during the Dark Years when with just a few exceptions the Braves had horrible teams. I believe that fans forged out of those kinds of adverse circumstances are more loyal and appreciative, but that just might be my smugness breaking through. The Dark Years did stimulate my interest in the farm system as a way of keeping hope alive, leading among other things to the discovery of Baseball America. To this day I find myself investing more emotional energy into the kids on the farm than the big team.

Stephen, 27 years of age and from here in Georgia. This is my first post but have been a frequent visitor over the past 6 months from scout.

I probably won't be a huge poster but will stop by and read every other day.

Big braves fan for 20 plus years. My house growing up was a place that if the Braves were playing, they would always be what you would find playing in the living room that night.

Played baseball from 3 years old to one year of college. Have been a chipper fan since 95 and wore #10 from about 10 years old to graduating high school. My 6 year old son now wears #10 and is also a Chipper fan. Wish I would have got him to a game before he retired. I hope he picks up Freeman soon but he still talks about Chipper as his favorite but I have no problem with that.

Name's King, first name Mister. I'm from Mississippi, and proud of it. I'm 37 and became a fan in '90, just before the bandwagon rolled through.

One of you spammers intrigued me on an ESPN board, so I decided to give the board a glance. Think I will stick around here for real talk and hit TMB for giggles.

    Also, I'm gay for Gattis.

    Hi, I'm kayak.

Got my name from my steam profile, as I'm a bit of a big gamer. I mostly like to lurk, but I read most every major thread/gamethread (I actually enjoy reading the Fredi criticism, believe it or not).

Anyway, became a Braves fan in '91, during the big "worst to first" run. Didn't really become a fan that watched every single game until 95, though. I have fond memories of dunking out my bucket of legos and building things while watching the big three shut down the competition every night on TBS.

Since I have lived in the metro Atlanta area for most of my life, I've been to quite a few games. My first game was in 98, when the Braves played the Cubs. Was a memorable game. There was a brawl at home plate, Sammy Sosa hit 2 home runs (it was just before his big 20 HR month), and we won 9-5. Millwood pitched. My least favorite game was a random game a few years ago against the Phillies, where Rollins hit a grand slam, and Melky Cabrera somehow let a single drop in front of him... and then by him for extra bases. I yelled at him so loudly and angrily that four dudes a few rows down that were shirtless and wearing blue paint looked at me like I was crazy.

My least favorite Brave is Melky Cabrera. Surprise. My favorite is Maddux. I could tell that he was an amazing pitcher, and way better than just about anyone else when I was like 8 years old and didn't even know all the rules!

Pretty much the only reason I have cable is for Braves games, although I'm planning to go to more games soon.

I just turned 30, and look forward to following the Braves for years to come. You guys have the most interesting discussions on our team that I've ever found, and I'll lurk here (and occasionally post) for a long time to come.

Why not? My name is Waylon. 33 and married. Born, raised and continue to live in the Bahamas.
I grew up in a house full of Yankee fans, 3 brothers and both parents. Can't remember exactly when I started watching the Braves, somewhere between 91 and 93 when my parents got a b.u.d. (big ugly dish for you youngsters out there).
Naturally watched the Braves since they were on every night on tbs.
Can't remember what year I joined most of you. It was before Scout.
Never been to a Braves game. Three spring training games for the Braves and a couple Yankee spring games with my family when I was a teenager. Once drove by Fulton County Stadium in the mid 90's but no game :-(

Once drove by Fulton County Stadium in the mid 90's but no game :-(
Never once? That ain't right. I saw we all start a paypal account, and contribute towards the cause!

Missed this! Great idea! Also willing to accept donations towards a new 70" flat screen to watch the other games

'07 was not that bad. Pretty much just the month of August.
