    Trade of bad contracts

Would you guys make this deal?

    Braves get:
    Jose Reyes - SS

    Blue Jays get:
    Dan Uggla - 2B

That Reyes contract is two years longer, and over five times the outlay when the 2018 buyout ($4 million) is considered. I think, despite the injury concerns, Reyes would be much more productive (offensively and defensively) than Uggla at 2B, but the Braves have enough other options that it doesn't make sense to trade a pricey owl on its last hoot for an albatross still in full-bloom.

Meh, dont think that would happen.

Should of just done BP/Uggla and some prospects.

    Nope

That would have been a horrific trade. Phillips has barely been better than Uggla so far before you go screaming about numbers this year. Phillips was due 4/50 and Uggla was due 2/26 now way do I pay 24M for Phillips. Would rather have Uggla and La Stella/Peraza for the next 4 years and put the 24M to extend someone or keep someone. Seriosuly we can't piss away 24M like it's nothing. Unless the Reds were willing to pay us 24M there's no way I consider trading for another old 2B on the decline. Anyone who wants that trade is just wrong.

No, Reyes is a cancer in the clubhouse. He's almost for sure an improvement over Uggla, but we're scoring tons of runs, maybe chemistry plays a role.

We are just going to have to let Uggla's contract run out. I just wish that he would be subbed out for defense in the seventh inning and later. I am resinged to the fact that he will be our starter for the rest of the year for some ungodly reason.

I used to slag Reyes mightily to the Mets fans who posted on the old board. At the risk of being crude, even now I wouldn't **** him with Dan Uggla's ****.

We danced around this subject over the winter when it sounded like the Reds would trade Brandon Phillips for Uggla. Phillips' contract makes Uggla's look cost effective, plus he's from Atlanta, so I would made that bad deal before the other, but in truth I'd rather keep Uggla and let his deal die a natural death. Also, when he's down to the final year, teams might be more likely to bite (see Lowe, Derek).

He's a douche, makes a gazillion dollars, is signed for 20 more years and has hamstrings like piano wire.

The only place he's going from here is New York. He'll replace Jeter.

Can anyone explain the trim that Jeter pulls, BTW? Sure, he's a good looking rich guy, but he's boring as ****. Still he's tapped half of Hollywood.

It's the size of his contract.

    Good post until the end.

Interesting that you mentioned Hollywood, because that's an old trick that they used to play to keep up images. Actresses would been seen with Rock Hudson, despite years of whispers that he was homosexual (before the word "gay" came into vogue). Same thing with Jeter. A lot those stories were cooked up by Yankees PR staff and NYC media. B-lister Minka Kelly had no serious TV or movie career by pretending to be his gf probably at least covered rent and other living expenses.
