How does Walker/Fletcher still have a job?

Seriously, what does Fredi and the FO see in these guys to keep them around? I understand that players and teams go through slumps but my God have these two accomplished anything since they've gotten here? What are their successes? Pretty much everyone has produced below norm. Can't get guys out if prolonged slumps, see BJ and Uggla. Our approach for the most part is awful.

It's a trend, Sox fans rejoiced when this clown was let go. Now I see why

One of their biggest gripes was Walker's inability to get players out of slumps. They go into slumps, they're essentially on their own. In doesn't help that we have a lineup that's constructed about as good as Ray King's weight loss plan with one of the worst hitters in the Majors hitting lead off

Yep. Me thinks Merv Rettenmund would be an upgrade at this point.

JS would be a better hitting coach than these two clowns.

All he'd have to say before each game is "let's go out and have championship caliber at bats" and we'd perform better than we are now.

They might not be good, but Uggla has been **** for three years, and a lot of the other guys watch strikes go by and swing at crap.

yeah, the biggest problem I see is inability to recognize strikes vs balls. Seems to be a teamwide problem. BJ in particular, is constantly getting called out on strikes after chasing one out of the zone for strike two. Obviously our high swing and miss rate is at lest partially due to swinging at pitches outside of the zone.

Could a different coach correct that? I doubt it, not in a hurry, anyhow. But our coaches seem to be more interested in "fixing" swings than in working on strike zone recognition.

No offense but BJ has played enough baseball in his life to know the strike zone.

Then I guess he just likes watching pitches go right over the plate.

What, you like our approach at the plate? How about those guys that can't seem to break a slump in oh 1-2-3 years? How about pitch and strike recognition? How about situational hitting? How about having a gameplan and fighting off good pitches until you get a good one?

Are we good at any one of these outside of Freddie? The answer is simply: NO! The only thing were good at is occasionally cranking out a home run, and hopefully 1 or 2 guys got on.

Hell we can't even get a good bunt down on a consistent basis.

    I do not.

They get carved apart like white on rice for the top P's, they dont work counts, go the other way, in close games, always go for the homerun.

Why if they make the playoffs, they wont go that far.

It's really hard to tell how much the hitting coach is actually at fault. Freeman started really hot and has been cold. Heyward hasn't gotten going. He can have really frustrating cold streaks, but get hot at any time (as he has of late).
It's just really early still. There's a lot of fluctuation in a baseball season, especially with Wood.

I'm not convinced a hitting coach really has that much to do with offensive production. That being said, at this point it couldn't hurt to switch something up. It definitely would be nice seeing Chipper in the dugout everyday.

What kind of conversations do you think Greg Walker, Jason Heyward, Justin Upton, BJ Upton, and Uggla have?
