Planning a trip to Aruba - Any travel tips?

The lady and I are planning to go to an island resort in late July, I've kind of settled on Aruba for the moment while she's sleeping.
I've never traveled or planned a trip before. I don't really know where to start - what sites to use, getting the best deals, etc.
Anyone here have any tips or tricks they use?

You just missed a huge fare war between Delta and American for Caribbean destinations -- I got in on a ticket to St. Barths for my birthday next month for $280 RT out of Charlotte.

    Anyways, some good websites:

So you don't recommend using a travel site like expedia and travelocity?
I will definitely check out those sites tomorrow and appreciate it a lot.

Personally, no. The only third party booking site I use with any regularity is Hotwire. I will book with Orbitz/Expedia/Travelocity/Priceline if I've found a hotel cheaper -- but never for a flight. If you are looking into 'package deals' (which rarely are)... check out CostcoTravel or AAA.

I use miles to travel. So can't help you there. But I went to Aruba in December 2012 and it was amazing.

    - You HAVE to do the jeep safari tour. Look it up on trip advisor. It was literally the most fun I've ever had (also though I could die a couple times on it). It's a legit off-road adventure that takes you some of the most historic and beautiful places on the island. Also is an all-day thing.

    - The jolly pirate booze cruise was a blast too. Only like $40 bucks and had unlimited (watered down)alcohol and great snorkeling sites.

    - If you're into Scuba diving, or Snuaba diving, I would go to the De Palm Island resort. It's a little pricey (like $150), but it's open bar, open food, and has amazing snorkeling/snuba opportunities.

Travelzoo.com is a great site for a combination of good deals on flights, hotels, resorts, and even vacation packages that include air.
