As of 05/11 we statistically have the worst offense in baseball

    Atlanta - 110 runs
    San Diego- 111
    Houston - 127
    Chicago Cubs - 131

It's not all bad. We have 34 home runs which must be nearly all solos because we have 104 rbis.

There are 6 teams who strike out more than we do: Chicago Whitesox, Miami, Chicago Cubs, Minnesota, Houston, LA Dodgers

Ranked in bottom 5 in OBP, slugging, average, OPS.

Going to have to start getting guys on base to turn this thing around.

Surprising our hitting coaches are collecting a paycheck.

I wonder what their job is, honestly.

Surprisingly, we're not finished, though. Of those 4 "offensively challenged" clubs, look at the records:
    Atl 20-15 tied 1st place
    SD 17-21 4th place
    Hou 11-26 last place
    Cubs 12-23 last place

Do the Braves need to get things corrected? Absolutely. I just thought we needed a little sweet to go along with the bitter on this nice Mother's Day.

Padres have played more games. So they are still the worst offense in runs per game.

Plus the Braves have had some bad luck. When park and league adjusted and normalized to a per PA basis and given proper value (or as we like to call it wRC+) the Braves are 24th in baseball with a healthy gap between them and the Padres. Nothing to write home about, we've slipped a lot because Simmons, Freeman, and Gattis have been sliding and no one has picked up the slack. Jason and Bossman improved but not even remotely close to enough. And they themselves are in mini-slumps.

I wonder what their (hitting coach) job is and it is only to collect a paycheck, because their job description does not entail helping our hitters but to watch and spit sunflower seeds.

I'm tempted to give you a mandatory leave of absence.... with you gone we've won 3 out of 4.

I was gone for most of the losing streak, too. And I came back Friday night.

They don't appear to be terribly successful, do they?

Maybe Pendleton should take that job back until Chipper is refreshed.

The problem really boils down to Heyward again failing to live up to the hype with the bat. Might be time to start realizing he won't ever truly break out for a full season with the Braves. I still think he will reach his potential but if he keeps hitting .200 he won't get paid what he thinks he is worth by the Braves. Its really sad because he is so valuable on defense and with base running. I don't know if I would want to give him a monster contract if that break out year is his contract year.
