Both companies had to do this. As a directv consumer, it will suck if att horrible customer service spreads over to directv now.

Federalize the telecom industry. No other way around this fiasco. Less competition equals less quality and higher prices. Competition won't be allowed because the big boys don't let it. They're already fighting tooth and nail against Verizon and Google for offering a real internet option.

The competition is from ROKU and stuff like that. Plus google is trying to do its thing. So it's not like competition doesn't exist. Only a matter of time before the streaming services take over. Plus here they compete with the other cable company anyway.
    thank you weso1!

Now that I'm done work I can properly respond to you.

My point about streaming still stands.

But unless you live in a market with Fiber or Fios cable has a stranglehold. I can't think of a market i've ever been near with 2 cable providers.

The absolute minimum is to force telecom companies to use an MVNO type of system where someone can basically rent the cable and sell it to consumers.

AT&T can call off the merger if directv doesn't renew Thier NFL Sunday ticket deal.
