Think Jimmy Rollins could play 2b for a year or two? How's his contract compare to Uggla's?
I don't know if Rollins can play 2B. For someone who's been a SS for ages facing the other way can be alarming. Rolling has a contract for 11M this year and an 11M vesting option next year that is set to vest in 270 PA. I don't know how I would feel about trading for him. He's solid with the bat, but not spectacular, most of his value as a player is his defense at SS, don't know if that translates to 2B. And I wouldn't be willing ot part with Wood, Sims, Peraza, etc. I'd send them guys who can help but aren't key for us like Terds, Martin, Thomas, etc.

Boy, one of those Cuban kids stashed in AAA that we had a chance to sign over the winter would have been nice right about now.

BBTN was emphasizing the heavy use kids are getting from playing ball almost year round these days. By the time a kid hits 20, he has been playing baseball year round for almost 3-4 years. That is a lot of mileage.

It's pretty much that way for most of the top-tier kids whatever their sport. The day of the three-sport all-around star has pretty much evaporated.

I know. Maddux was on baseball, chess, and debate team.

Not much flexibility these days for other athletes.

I grew up in a rural area and the conference was composed of all small towns and it seems every town had a great three-sport athlete (usually football/basketball/and either baseball or track). It's rare now with all the off-season activities for football and year-round leagues for hockey and basketball and travelling teams for baseball. My distant cousin (who seems to have about all the athletic ability of the previous four generations of the family concentrated in his one body) is a dual sport kid (football and basketball), but he'd probably be the best sprinter on the track team as well, but the three-sport allure is gone.

    Rollins:
    1) Would not approve a trade anywhere
    2) Would not agree to moving to 2B

Jimbo has a full no trade clause. He's clearly stated before that he will retire a Philly.

No, would be a waste, and he's never really played 2B.

Just roll with TLS in a month.

He was 35-17 before 2006 with 400+ innings.

lol at using W-L when it's convenient.

Lee didn't become truly elite until his late 20's if I remember correctly. That's when he placed himself into ACE status. Went from being a Gio Gonzalez to Cliff Lee.
