    5/29 MINORS FINAL: Hillcats, M-Braves red-hot

Gwinnett was one of the hottest teams in baseball in April, winning seven straight, enabling the team to stay in the black despite a .500 May.

Mississippi is 20-7 in May, winning four straight going into Thursday night. The month already has two winning streaks of five games.

Lynchburg is 19-11 in a busy May, including five straight through Thursday's afternoon win, and 8 of 9.

    ---------

Another veteran minor league free agent has been assigned to the Rome roster. Ross Wilson, 25, was released by the Marlins about two weeks ago hitting .239 in the FSL. He's a third baseman who was an all-star in the SAL back in .210. Matriculated at Alabama.

Remarkable story of hanging in there: Jamie Romak, who was the Braves 4th round pick out of Canada back in 2003(!) made his MLB debut Wednesday night for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He played in 106 games for Rome in 2006 with 16 home runs, but the next spring was included in a trade with Adam LaRoche to the Pirates for Mike Gonzalez and Brent Lillibridge!

Dude has played 1,069 games in the minors before getting his callup. Has 928 hits, 162 home runs. Great that a career "AAAA" man gets his moment.
