The slider is just not good.

If the Braves don't pull this game out.

His slider was just so good last time out . . . always down, always biting.

A lot of Fangraphs guys have been down on JT, predicting regression based on his lower K rate, strand rate, etc. He's not going to keep up his current pace, but having watched most of his starts this year, I think that the lower K rate is a by-product of his dialing the velo on his 4-seamer back a little bit and controlling it better. He's been effective at inducing poor contact. Having eyeballed him as much as I have, it's hard to believe he isn't for real.

The thing that has improved is his two-seamer. The slider is a good pitch for him.

Ok I should say the pitch he struggles with is his slider. He makes mistakes with it more than other pitches. When it's good it's good, but he has some games where it's just a bp fastball spinner. His fastball is terrific and he should pound it.

There is inducing poor contact and then getting luckky. He had a 216 BABIP against coming into this game. Things like that just are sustainable no matter who you are. Has a high stranded rate of 87% which is above normal as well. He likely will regress.

6 men left on base through 4 innings. Vintage Atlanta Braves circa 2014. This crap is really getting old in a hurry. At least Ga. Southern is leading FSU 3-0 after 6

Ed Lucas. Casey McGehee. Garrett Jones.

The Marlins are particularly annoying this season because they're getting it done with great performances by also-ran scrubs.

Thats what i dont get to be a streaky offensive team dont you have to have good stretches? This offense has been horrid all year. How this team can be so bad is maddening. We have offensive pieces yes but its like wren got pieces that go to another puzzle so they dont fit this one . When j up and freddy are hitting literally no one else is

and without hits with men on base the runs will have to come on HR's. Not going to hit too many in this monstosity.

Maybe we'll get a walk and a triple, twice.
