Weather Channel, Are You Kidding Me?

Never mind. The article was satire. TWC is still lame, though

IIRC, they have some really cheesy filler programming. I liked them when they primarily ONLY did weather coverage. I suppose there wasn't much money in it, but it was better before.

I think the internet pretty much ended that for them. Access to local weather anytime you want it.
    thank you weso1!

weso, which site(s) do you recommend for the best real time radar coverage. Living here in tornado freakin' alley I kinda need to know without a 10-15 time lag which 2 of my current sources (Accuweather and Intellicast) often have.

    Suggestions?

As far as free sites, wunderground.com is pretty good, especially with their recent improvements. Really though you should just set up your phone to accept weather alerts.
    thank you weso1!

I already get weather alerts but I believe all come from accuweather and/or intellicast and I like pretty much everything about both sites except that slight time lag which kinda matters when there's a severe thunderstorm and/or tornado heading your way. You also mentioned "free sites", are there paid sites that are loads better/more accurate? I will check out the wunderground one in the meantime. Thanks!!

I actually have The Weather Channel app and it's worked okay for me. I agree the non-forecast programming on the cable channel is pretty atrocious.

The pay sites are extremely detailed, but really mainly useful for those doing research or big time weather enthusiasts. wunderground should be good enough. I've spotted many of naders on there before nws officially issued a warning, so it's good enough.
    thank you weso1!

So, nobody just looks at the sky anymore for their weather-reports?

I do at times, but as someone raised on a farm, I can usually tell if it's going to rain by the smell of the air (if I'm in a non-flatulent state) or how loud my joints are creaking. That is actually more reliable than gazing skyward.

I rely heavily on the National Weather Service websites online. Starting this time of year, the National Hurricane Center also gets quite a few web hits from my computer. As far as apps go, I have one from a local TV station. I also have WeatherBug, which isn't the best forecasting app, but they have a lightning detection system that is useful.

Sometimes, the sun shines brightly while a downpour is falling at the same time. Kind of makes you not know what to believe. Haha
