The Danville Braves (12-10) has their seven-game winning streak end Monday in their series finale against Princeton, but is still very much a red-hot team on its day off.

Sunday, the D-Braves pitched their second consecutive shutout Sunday, 4-0, en route to their seventh straight win. Luis Merejo, Jared Dettmann, and Michael Swanner combined to hold the Princeton Rays (5-18) scoreless, allowing just 6 hits in the contest.

Merejo was excellent in his home debut for the D-Braves pitching 4.2 innings of scoreless baseball while striking out six Rays' batters. The evening did not start well for Merejo as he allowed singles to each of the first two batters, but the lefty used a 6-4-3 double play and a strikeout to escape the inning unscathed.

The only other jam he was in was allowing a two out double in the fifth to Elias Torres, but after a walk to Spencer Edwards he was able to get Bralin Jackson to groundout to second baseman Mikey Reynolds.

The Princeton pitching staff was able to hold Danville to a relatively pedestrian day at the plate besides the fifth inning where the D-Braves were able to put three runs on the scoreboard. After Jackson Laumann doubled off the wall in left, Anthony Nunez singled through the right side to put runners on the corners.

Connor Lien then laced a double past third base to bring both Laumann and Nunez around to score, all while extending Lien's current hitting streak to nine games. Lien doubled Monday to keep the streak alive going into the day off. Third baseman Victor Caratini followed with a double to the the right center gap, his ninth of the season, to plate Lien and extend the lead to 4-0.

The bullpen for Danville was once again stellar, with Dettmann and Swanner combining for 4.1 innings of shutout baseball. Dettmann recorded three strikeouts and allowed two hits in his 3.1 innings, picking up his first win of the season. Swanner came in for the ninth and hit the leadoff man, but then proceeded to punch out the next batter looking and induce the game ending 6-4-3 double play.

After winning a close game one that went into extra innings, Danville shuts out Princeton, 1-0, in game two Saturday. In an error free ballgame, Danville was able to out hit Princeton to clench the win.

Game two was a pitching duel, with the pitchers only giving up eight hits during the game. Andrew Waszak got his first start on the mound for Danville, throwing four complete innings in which he had two strike outs and only gave up three hits. Jordan Sechler came in at the top of the fifth, striking out four and walking two of the batters he faced. He did not give up any hits or runs, and picked up the win for the Braves.

Princeton started right handed pitcher Josh Kimborowicz, who saw 3.2 innings of action. In his time on the mound he struck out four batters and gave up three hits, one of which was the solo homerun by Jacob Schrader that put the Braves ahead for good. Clayton Crum came on to pitch in the fourth for Princeton, and ended the night with two strikeouts and two hits. Kimborowicz took the loss for Princeton.

Danville outhit Princeton 5-3 in game two. All three of Princeton's hits were singles, while Danville had three singles, a double, and the game winning homerun.
