I initially thought sturg made this thread as a homage to 12 years a slave... 20 years a slave (to the federal government, Clinton to Bush to Obama).

Stop trying so hard. They aren't landing.

We stopped class in HS to watch the bronco chase. They wheeled in TVs to show us the hunt for OJ. What a huge case that was. I think we even watched some of the court proceedings in class.

I remember the split screen of the car chase while watching game 5 of Knicks-Rockets in the Finals.

Oh and I think the @sshole is guilty

I had just graduated HS and was at the beach for my senior year trip. We had one adult with us—a bunch of randy, boozy teens with one putative chaperone. She got so absolutely absorbed in the OJ thing that she didn't even leave the couch for the duration. We'd be walking right past her, mostly some combination of liquored up, stoned, and/or naked, and she would just occasionally look up and say, quizzically, "Do you think he did it?"

I was trying to remember what game I was watching. I was thinking Rockets, but I wasn't sure.

And we wonder why our educational system is in trouble.

Current events class or maybe a class called today's world ?

Our textbook was Newsweek magazine and yes it wasn't a core class.

That whole trial was one of the saddest moments in American history.

I think it showed a number of things and one of the greatest ironies is that while many African-Americans lauded the acquittal, they tended to forget that O.J. was a rich African-American with access to megabuck lawyers. If it would have been a lower class African-American, Marcia Clark would have devoured the public defender and the defendant would have gotten a lifetime pass to the San Quentin spa and recreation facility.

You make a very interesting point
So many angles played into that happening.

Not only that, but it was one of the longest moments in American history as well.

I thought the jeep chase was sadder. The trial was just a circus display of incompetency.

    Or course he did it.
