    BA's Mid-Season Top 50

    http://www.baseballamerica.com/minor...nock-buxton-1/

No Braves on the list. In the Q&A, they indicate that Peraza was one of the last cuts. That's a nice jump up for him. He was just off the Top 100 list at the start of the season and now he's in the 50-60 range.

Sims is going through a rough year. Sometimes its a good thing to have a prospect struggle so hopefully he turns in on in the second half.

No pitching prospect on the fast track at the moment. Have to figure Martin, Northcraft closest starters to being ready.

They really might. They might not have enough pitchers that I know about.

They have IF power that teams drool over.

Then again the Royals had a system kinda like that and that hasn't panned out either.

There might be a surprise, but at the moment none of our pitching prospects project to be as good as Teheran, Wood and Minor. We do have a group from which it is likely a #4 and a #5 emerge. But we are likely to be very dependent over the next three seasons on Teheran, Wood and Minor.

    Yet.

They had their 1st winning season last yr and are 2 games back of the WC currently. Only real disappointment among their position players has been Moose Tacos, and he's been red hot over the last month.

I wouldn think the supposed best farm system ever would produce more than 1-2 winning seasons and praying to make a wild card spot. Almost all their starting pitching prospects busted. Hosmer is a below average 1b. The Braves get better players from prospects who barely crack a top 100 list than the Royals get from top 10 rated prospects.

Hosmer reminds me of that list of Law's where he had Hosmer, Belt, Singleton, and Rizzo over Freeman. Singleton just made his MLB debut. Hosmer has a career 101 OPS+ Rizzo is seemingly hitting his stride now, but still has a career 109 OPS+, Belt is the leader of the group with a 128 OPS+. Freeman is at 127. So only Belt is close to him so far. Also of note, OPS favors the more power friendly Belt and not the more average and OBP superior freeman. Freddie of course has a higher wRC+.

Anyway, my point is suck it keith law.

The Royals haven't been a relevant team in over 20 yrs. I'd say getting a winning season under your belt and being in the thick of a tight wild card race is damn impressive considering where they were.

As far as their prospects not developing. TINSTAAPP. Remember, Teheran, Delgado, and Vizcaino? Most everyone on here thought those 3 would be anchoring the staff for the next 10 yrs. So far Julio is the only one with ML success.

In any which way, Duffy and Ventura are pitching pretty damn well this yr.

Position players are still young, for the most part. Hosmer has had 2 good yrs and 1.5 bad yrs. Way too early to tell on him. Moose Tacos looks like he may be a bust. But players like him sometimes take time to develop (ala Chris Davis). Perez, Hosmer, Gordon, Cain, and Escobar is a nice core.

    1. You're forgetting Mike Minor from your pitcher list. And Randall has been solid aside from the long ball. That is a weakness of his that he needs to fix. Viz was a bust as a starter because he didn't do enough to have quality mechanics but the only reason he's not in th ebigs as a closer was because of a catastrophic recovery from TJ

    2. Escobar wasn't a KC prospect, he was already an established major leaguer when they got him. Their best players this year are Gordon, Perez, and Cain. Gordon's been around a long time, well before the greatest generation of prospects, and neither Cain nor Perez were BA top 100 prospects. The Royals great generation of prospects was Myers, Moose Tacos, and Hosmer. Only one of that group to look like a star so far is Myers who they traded away. But what people forget is what got the ROyals their high ranking was of course having 3 great position prospects, but also their pitching. Duffy, Montgomery, Lamb, Odorizzi, etc. I guess the other prospect was Christian Colon, who just broke into the bigs this year. So probably not much from him but who knows.
