Playing third base!

(This from Guy Curtright, former AJC writer, for Gwinnett DP)

Phil Gosselin is not likely to soon forget the Class AAA All-Star Game, which will be played tonight in Durham.

#After all, it is the first time the Atlanta Braves’ fifth-round draft pick in 2010 has received a chance to play in a minor league all-star event.

#Gosselin, though, may remember the week leading up as much or more.

#The Gwinnett infielder was recalled by Atlanta on Sunday and then sent back down on Monday, when he was announced as the International League hitter of the week.

#How could there have been any other choice for the award?

#Gosselin was 18-for-26 with six doubles, two triples, one homer and six RBIs over the seven-game stretch, lifting his overall average to .345 — third in the International League.

#It would be nice to think that the spree earned the former University of Virginia standout his second major league call. But actually the one-day stay was the result of Dan Uggla being suspended for a game because of a late arrival on Saturday and the Braves needing a temporary replacement in Chicago.

#By sending Gosselin back without waiting until games resumed after Tuesday night’s Major League All-Star Game, the 25-year-old could appear for the International League against the Pacific Coast League as originally scheduled.

#Gosselin, who has played three infield spots as well as left field, leads the International League in hits (120), doubles (27) and total bases (172).

#The G-Braves’ other representative is reliever Juan Jaime, who has 14 saves.
