Perraza at it again. 2 more hits (1 double) tonight.

Kubitza with 2 more walks and Castro with another hit tonight.

All of a sudden we have a wealth of middle infield prospects really close to the major leagues.

Peraza is just having an amazing year. He is exactly what this team needs at the top of the lineup.

The only logical place for him is CF but I doubt they bench Upton. You have to see what this kid can do in the majors in September. YOu just never know what could happen.

I think he could but I also think its more likely they bench Upton before CJ. Ideally, you put him at third and you dramatically improve your defense as well as possibly the teams overall OBP. However, with CJ hitting well lately I think he rides out the year at the very least.

Oh yeah, I'm not talking about this year. I'm wondering about after this season.

Camargo stayed hot today. Would be nice to have another legitimate everyday prospect to consider in two years.

I think whoever has the stronger arm between Peraza and TLS will go to third. Hopefully CJ finishes the season very hot and then we could trade him for a young arm.

    Peraza
    TLS
    Freeman
    J-Upt
    Heyward
    Gattis
    BJ
    Tron

    I like it!

Godfrey is also handling himself well at Rome. Not that old for Rome at this point (22) either. Could be a fast riser and another legit leadoff option down the road.

I'm no CJ fan but he has been doing his job for a very solid month now. CF is the spot Peraza needs to be working on. Even with BJ's recent "good work". He hitting less than .215 and been bad for a 2nd straight year.

Regardless, Peraza is a special prospect and a big key to the future of this offense.

I still think LA Stella will go to left and Peraza starts at 2b. I think there is a chance of this happening in September with the chances going up the more games we need to make up. I think BJ is going to be fighting Peraza for a starting spot next spring training. And if Justin splits after 2015 I bet they release him then. If Justin re-sign they keep be around as a favor to Justin.

Having no HR power at another spot should be avoided.

Only 3 teams have gotten over .350 OBP / .800 OPS from 2B. If La Stella finishes the season about like he has started he has value. His defense has been better than I thought. Doesn't save runs but has been clean with only 2 errors.

If you play Fantasy you know how weak 3B has gotten. What we got in 2012 would be 3rd best OPS today. Johnson has been bad but at least getting his hits when guys are on.

But worst of all is SS. It is actually slightly up this season. But that is really only Colorado SS running away from the pack.

The 2nd best team SS OBP is .339 If we take Peraza out out of the IF we are shooting ourselves in the foot.

I don't know how long BJ can keep up the not terrible production at lead-off with him still not hitting. Jose is exciting with his hit rate outpacing BJ's K rate but his is only 20. More likely he helps us the next 2 years if he is traded than if he plays for us.

There are guys right now born 91-92 with a load of talent that aren't hitting yet in the Majors
    Oscar Taveras
    Gregory Polanco
Arismendy Alcantara *only a couple weeks up*
even Bryce Harper has as many commercials and HRs this year

Sure, he isn't likely to be a high OBP guy.

But his K rate has gone down in AA. To walk more you are going to have to trade getting K'd more and he has good wiggle room on that side.

Less hits from swinging or bunting less early in the count but hope that it evens out with them being replaced by walks and some hits in 2 strike counts.

Tom Glavine got approx 40 walks a year if he played 162 games. Sometimes pitchers just can't execute and if you have can make it to the box you win.

If a guy who hit .186 can achieve an acceptable walk rate a gut that can put the bat on the ball should be able to.
His career so far is about that. 1 walk ever 4 or 5 games.
