Not as smart as Meta, but way smarter than Zito.
I saw that. Sounds like he is going to be moved today. I wonder where?
Peavy is not an upgrade over anybody the Braves have in their rotation now, including Mike Minor, so it makes zero sense that it's Atlanta. I would think perhaps some other contender.
Ken Rosenthal is reporting it's the Giants.
I'm not unfurling the white flag, but if the Braves make anything other than a minor move (not a Mike Minor move), I'm going to be ticked. Just ride this one out and let the chips fall where they may.
No to Peavy.
I agree. Even if the team was able to land David Price, it wouldn't change much at this point. The team simply has a bad line up, and it is stuck with some bad hitters on bad contracts (BJ, CJ) that will be difficult to move. The system is too thin of talent right now to make a major move.
Idk. Landing Price would be a huge shot in the arm to the team same as Santana did for us.

Gattis for David Price straight up? You betcha!
*Look, I love Evan Gattis. Great story. Great young man. Love his talent. BUT, he is going to belong in the American League. Will he be Atlanta's catcher in three years? Will he be the starting catcher the year the Braves move into the new stadium? No. No way. He'll be 30 then. So trade him. Trade him for David Price. You put him on the table and Tampa Bay would be nuts to say not to that - a catcher who can hit and be a DH that is under control for four more years? Holy crap. They ought to jump on that

Something you guys need to realize. I salivate at the thought of having Price, but if we did somehow get him, we're sending Major League talent in exchange, not just prospects. So start thinking about who you want to trade.
The first names to pop up would be Gattis, Heyward, Wood, Simmons. And Laird of course.
The earliest the Braves will have a chance to get David Price is November. With the way the Rays are playing, they will not be trading him. They believe they're in the race in the A.L.

Shanks is high on Peavy? He wasn't the mystery pitcher.

That division is weak, but Rays should trade him if they don't add significant offense at the deadline and if they don't get a return better than a potential first rounder. I mean if we offer them Bethancourt and Peraza then the Rays would be morons to say no unless they have a trade for a significant hitter in the works. With that in mind Wren won't offer that. He's stingy with his prospects.
thank you weso1!
