    2015 HALL of FAME ballot

While we've all pretty much agreed that John Smoltz is a lock to get into the Hall of Fame at first crack next year, it's a pretty strong ballot -- especially if the hate mongers are among those who get screened out of the process. I will wonder how many writers will be denied ballots because they refuse to sign the waiver about non-transfer and making names public.

HOLDOVERS (and their percentage in 2014)
    1. Craig Biggio (74.8); 2. Mike Piazza (62.2); 3. Jeff Bagwell (54.3); 4. Tim Raines (46.1); 5. Roger Clemens (35.4); 6. Barry Bonds (34.7); 7. Lee Smith (28.9); 8. Curt Schilling (29.2); 9. Edgar Martinez (25.2); 10. Alan Trammell (20.8); 11. Mike Mussina (20.3); 12. Jeff Kent (15.2); 13. Fred McGriff (only 11.7!); 14. Mark McGwire (11.0); 15. Larry Walker (10.2); 16. Don Mattingly (8.2); 17. Sammy Sosa (7.2).

My personal way of handling steroid guys is to chop off 20% of their counting stats to see where they would have been (except Bonds, who has to pay a 400 HR asshole tax). That eliminates some guys. I also give more weight to guys I'm certain are clean. I am the judge and jury for me.

Oh, and double points for guys who could perform high as a kite (Rock Raines, looking at you).

Pedro is number 1 in my book. He had a season or 2 that may be the greatest of all time.

    Randy
    Edgar
    Smoltz

I think Unit will go in as a D-Back.

Pedro most likely in a Red Sox uni.

    My ballot.

    1. RJ
    2. Pedro
    3. Smoltz
    4. Bagwell
    5. Piazza
    6. Bonds
    7. Clemens
    8. Schilling
    9. Walker
    10. Trammell

I know I'll get ridicule for leaving Biggio out but he's a compiler, Only guy on that list I think he is maybe better than is Piazza, and I'd only consider dropping Piazzs for Mussina. Biggio's lone claim to fame is 3000 hits. He should get in but he should wait.

Pedro should be a sox, but I can see him being dual cause HOF has a boner for getting Expos in. RJ will be in as a D-Back whether it's alone or with Mariners.

Biggio does have 3k hits, and he was Mr. Astro for a long time.

    He should get in eventually.

He will and it will be next year.

I suspect next year Pedro, Randy, Biggio, and Smoltz will make it. Piazza and Bagwell will both have gains and I think Piazza gets in on the 2016 ballot.

I see 3 maybe 4 getting the nod next year.

Pedro great numbers across the board
Big Unit 300+ wins plus 2nd all time strikeouts
Smoltz SHOULD get in, but there might be some that think he needs to wait a year. One of the greatest post season pitchers, 200+ wins AND 150+ saves, unheard of. part of the big 3.
Biggio, he deserves it, but it might come down to him or Smoltz for next year if they don't both make it.

Raines not getting in thus far is laughable. Dude's numbers are right up there with some no doubter HOF. Raines should be a no brainer first ballot HOF in my book.

5th all time in steals with a nearly 85% success rate. .385 career OBP. I could make an argument that in his prime Raines was the best baserunner in the modern era and maybe in the history of baseball. Yes... better than Ricky Henderson. .385 lifetime OBP to go along with the incredible baserunning. And a decent amount of pop as well for such a great baserunner. 170 HR's is nothing to sneeze at for the type of player he was. More than Tony Gwynn hit by the way.

I mean I think you could argue he was one of the three best players in all of baseball in his prime years. Better than a few folks who are already in the hall.
    thank you weso1!
