MINORS FINAL 7/31: GCL Braves open up can of whuparse; two rain-shortened wins!

    THURSDAY BOXES LINK

    ------------------
Lynchburg was originally announced as having lost Thursday night 6-4 to Wilmington as WIlmington scored 3 runs in the 6th before the rain came, preventing Lynchburg from batting in the inning. The teams do not meet again this season.

But the old baseball rule has not changed. The game reverts back to the last full inning, making Lynchburg a 4-3 winner! MiLB hasn't caught up with that yet, but the confirmed flip-flop has been reported on the Lynchburg home page.

Hunter has been a walking machine lately, 8 walks to only 3 K's in his last 8 games (including two more tonight). He has also walked more on the season than struck out, not that he strikes out much. He's now hitting .294 with a .382 OBP, .500 SLG and .882 OPS (including 12 homers).

I'd like to see him get a shot with us in the Majors at least by Sept. call-ups. I think he'd been at least a good bench bat.

PS: He already has some Major league experience from years back and didn't do bad either. Though very small sample size.

Hunter is such a mystery. He was a pretty big time prospect with SD and moved up to AA very quickly... his power seems to fluctuate hugely every year... this year, he's having his best overall year in the minors... I like that he walks more than he strikes out... I'm interested.

I was at a big league game way back in the 1970s and saw first-hand a game reversed. Twins were cruising with a 4-0 lead when their opponent scored 4 or 5 in the top of the 7th. Then the deluge (and I mean deluge) arrived. When they met at home plate to officially call the game, the opposing manager went bat-sh*t crazy.
