MINORS FINAL 8/25: Edgerton an all-star; Curacao signee! Bloodbath ih Lycnbhurg

Jordan Edgerton, who has led the Appy League in RBIs from day one, is the only Danville Brave to be names a postseason Appalachian League all-star. Edgerton, who turns 21 Saturday, has 41 RBIs in 55 games -- including 25 in his first 16 games. He's currently .269-3-41 and tied for the league RBI lead.
    -----------------
Francisco Gonzalez, who flirted with a no-hitter in his last start, allowed only two hits over five innings today to earn the win. Coming on late in the season is something teams look for in these camp leagues. Remember the name.
    -----------------
JOEY TERDOSLAVICH, Gwinnett Braves IL BATTER OF THE WEEK
Gwinnettʹs Joey Terdoslavich hit .385 over the past week and led the International League with five
home runs, nine runs scored, 25 total bases, and eight walks. He went deep last Sunday to begin a
streak of five consecutive games with a long ball, establishing a new Gwinnett Braves franchise
record. The streak ended Friday, but Terdoslavich added a three‐run blast in Saturday nightʹs 7‐4 win
at Durham. He is now hitting .258 on the season in a League‐leading 130 games played.
25‐year‐old Joey Terdoslavich is in his fifth season as a professional player and third season above the
Double‐A level. In 2013 he was an International League All‐Star outfielder and made his Major
League debut by appearing in 55 games with Atlanta, hitting .215. Terdoslavich is a native of
    Sarasota, Florida.

With Lynchburg's elimination from the postseason, the Braves said a special thank you to a couple of veteran signees by releasing them in advance of the end of the season. Maybe it'll save Liberty 10-20 bucks:

Daniel Carroll played at Rome and Mississippi as well as Lynchburg this season going .212-3-27 but with 26 stolen bases. He comfortably played all three outfield positions. Was an original Mariners third-round pick in 2007, but is still only 25. He was 0-for-5 in the Sunday DH.

Justin Bloxom was also released. Signed quickly after Washington released him, the first baseman went .224-2-20 in 44 games for Lynchburg after .252-1-10 in Harrisburg earned his released. He hit 21 homers in 2112. He's 26 now.

Promoting Cuban catcher Yenier Bello from GCL was one of the moves leading to the cuts.

This from BBA and Curacao news:

Curacaon center fielder Raysheandall Michel starred at the recent Senior League World Series, with the 16-year-old hitting a rare home run at the event.
Michel eventually became second at that tournament, together with the Curaçao team, showing his great talent once again. The Braves already had their sights set on him. Michel is now in the training program of the club where Andrelton Simmons made waves as a short stop in recent years. Michel is eager to follow in the footsteps of Simmons. During the last few years at MontañaAbou, he already showed he was mentally ready for it. The Braves have not yet made known their plans with him in terms of the near future. One thing is sure: a route will be mapped out for him, so he can continue to develop his talents.

Gosselin To Fall Short of IL Batting Title

This doesn't quite deserve a thread of its own, but the International League has explained how the league's batting race is going to go down:

If he doesn't return to Syracuse, Stephen Souza will fall three plate
appearances shy of the 389 required to qualify for the League batting championship.
However, his title chances appear good due to a rule that will allow him to qualify as
the batting champion as long as he would have anyway if going hitless in three
additional at-bats. Souza is currently hitting .354; that average would drop to .350
with three more hypothetical at-bats added to the tally. That means if no other IL
player finishes with an average higher than .350, Souza will be recognized as the
    2014 batting champion.
Gosselin, who has enough plate appearances (407) to qualify, was hitting .344 at the time of his callup.
