It sounds great to trade Upton but the problem is that nobody will take him. You will hvae to package him with Gattis just for the team to take UPton without the Braves absorbing the salary. Is that something the Braves want to do? Its possible.

The blog mentions a package for BJ and Minor, in order to get prospects back.

As well as a bad contract to absorb. Something certainly has to be done to get rid of BJ so that Heyward and/or Justin can be retained. I'm just not sure how thats going to be done without giving up a way too valueable piece or absorbin another horrible contract.

you'd be hard pressed to find a contract worse than BJ's.

If trading Minor with BJ, it better free up some money to bring in a starting pitcher or two. Better not be banking on Medlin/Beach returning.

I'm sorry, but I just don't see the rationale behind trading Gattis this offseason unless he brings back a young stud starting pitcher with 3-4 years of control remaining, or a stud OFer to replace Justin or Heyward. A team that can't hit should not be trading away the most powerful bat on the roster that is making league minimum, even if he can't play more than 120 games.

And stop with the CB waiting in the wings crap. He was awful offensively and defensively while he was up. He needs at least one more year in AAA before he is even an option at the MLB level.

    This. Team. Can't. Hit.

Evan Gattis can, so keep him.

While I agree with your premise....Gattis is hitting 240 in the second half with a 150 point falloff in his OPS from his 1st half. I'm sure some of it is the injury but I'm also sure some of it was just an abnormally hot start by him as well.

In agreement if we trade Gattis, I want a for real pitcher or a for real hitter that can play center or play right well enough to allow Jason to shift over.

Trading BJ isn't that hard, it's just a matter of how much the braves are willing to eat. If they offered to eat all but 1 mill a year someone would bite.

Gattis I think they are right, he won't hold up physically to a full season at catcher. It's going to be hard to improve the offense replacing Gattis with Bethancourt. Whatever we gain in center will probably be lost here.

I remember you said you'd take Jacob Turner over Minor.

LOL Gattis is a fine defensive C.
If we have to deal him I understand. He's more valuable at DH.

And your point is? It was immediately after the draft. The majority of the board (and most analysts) thought he was reach.

I also wanted to trade Beachy for Lorenzo Cain and was laughed at. Would be pretty nice to have Cain roaming CF right now wouldn't you say?

And probably still take back another bad contract. Just a lesser bad contract.

Gattis had a pretty awesome bat, pre injury.....but he's pretty much a negative where ever he plays on D. He's a DH and probably isn't long for Atlanta.

I don't wanna get rid of Gattis either but if it meant getting rid of BJ I would.

Yeah... that is a flat out lie. I've been one of Minor's staunchest defenders since he became a permanent member in the rotation. If I have mentioned trading him, it's been for a stud current MLB player in now. Not a prospect. Even this yr as he's struggled, I've been right there to point out how he's always been a 2nd half pitcher and likely to rebound. And the last 1.5 yrs is closer to his true talent than he's been showing this yr.

And I literally never have had a huge desire to trade for Jacob Turner.

Yep his first 1.5 years when he was bad mean nothing. I always love that line.

Typically players have a tough first year+... It's called being a rookie. Even Maddox sucked his first 2-3 years
