I don't hate him as a person, just as a baseball player (or to soften the blow further, I hate his...lack of production?).
I would disagree that BJ has not dogged it; and it's hardly Esasky's fault that he got vertigo.
Apologies if I offended you with my usage of the word hate, but please check yourself first before you throw out "bush league" in my direction.
I just love you too much for that.

Don't hate him per se. My only beef when he was signed was length of contract and the impression I had that Wren bid against himself and went too high by a couple million per season. If Upton had signed a 3-year/$36 million deal, I would have thought "decent." As it is, it's just a terrible baseball deal. All that said, I'd never thought he'd be this terrible.

You lecture the board about disrespect to the Braves, the fans or their manager. The Esasky signing made perfect sense at the time. He hit around .350 lifetime at Atlanta Fulton County Stadium (somebody else can verify, to be sure). They needed a 1st baseman at the time. He may even have been a Marietta resident.
Len Barker? He was acquired more for the '83 stretch run, based largely on his reputation from throwing a perfect game. It could've been that he just wasn't "as advertised" in the first place.
Who's next? Bruce Sutter?
Seriously, some of you are total babies about poor FA signings or trades. You'd think that the Braves were the only team in baseball to ever experience a bad contract or a lopsided trade.
"Uh huh huh. BJ Upton sucks! Let's take to Twitter!"

Bob Wickman, BJ Surhoff, Kolb, Horacio Ramirez...can probably name a few more before I get to BJ Upton
I actually don't hate him that much... Why? Because he was never that good to begin with
Wren was stupid giving a player star type money who had never even made an All Star team, never hit 30 homers, never drove in more than 82 runs, Had averaged like .240 avg, .310 OBP, and like 160 K's for the previous few seasons before coming to the Braves.
BJ was never anything special to begin with. Just because Wren gave him money like one doesn't change who he was. Wren goofed
Now Dan Uggla? That's different, that guy hit like a star and simply came and bombed. I expected more from him but BJ? I laughed and shook my head on the day of the signing and I continue to do so.

Ya I'd put Wren ahead of BJ
I don't hate anyone, except Dick Cheney, but we are talking baseball. I disliked several players on the Braves since what like 1973 when I began watch them.
1. Melky
1a. Rocker
There is no one close to these two.....Lofton is second but a ways down.
Wickman would be 3rd.
Robert Fick 4th.
Yonel Escobar 5th.
The five were cancers on the team.
Klob and Reeksma along with Sanders and Mondesi were just bad players but with good attitudes and I can't get on them about that.
Lol on Glavine's name being brought up. Thank God for him (and Dave Justice) or the boys of Choketober still wouldn't have a WS championship.

I don't hate BJ, I knew it was a horrible contract when we gave it to him.....if you want to hate anyone, hate Wren for overpaying for a below average player.
