    Tax Inversions

Thoughts? Fair or foul? Unpatriotic? Smart?

What should be done about it, if anything.

I'm sure most folks know my stance.

In a capitalistic country, A company really doesn't have a choice in the matter.

If any of us were a CEO, we'd do it too. Have to.

I think all companies who want to operate in the US economy which is the biggest and richest in the world, should have to pay taxes based on money made in the US.

And I wouldn't support a company who does this. Burger King isn't a company I patronize too often anyway. They flat out suck when compared to Wendys, Five Guys, Checkers, etc.

The tax rate for corporation should be lower considering earnings are taxed twice but loopholes for tax credits should be phased out for companies that make butloads of money.

You know what's funny... How many time have I heard in the last few years:

"If you don't like the taxes in our country, go to a different country!"

Now, these businesses are doing just that, our country is upset about it.

The government is talking about punishing these companies. Heaven forbid we lower the tax rate, which is currently the highest in the world.

For the record, I don't blame these businesses one bit. If our government refuses to have a competitive tax rate, then they will pay the price.

Companies can certainly leave but that means leaving and not selling products within the US. They are not willing to give up the US market and have to circumvent it. I agree that taxes should be lowered but these companies are having their cake and eating it too.

They don't pay those tax rates though. I think taxing money made in the US is key. Whether it's a US company or another company. Call it a fee ofr doing business in the US.

Don't see what that has to do with anything I quoted or the topic at hand since all we are really talking about is greed

They aren't doing what you describe cause of a moral issue with where taxes go like you describe

Well, in my opinion, a corporation's goal is and should be to make money, by providing goods or services that people are willing to exchange value for. Do you disagree?

Smart/fair. Politicians are creating incentives, corporations are responding to those incentives. The issue is with the legislators, IMO, and what should be done about it is a sharp reduction (elimination?) of the corporate tax rate. If closing of tax loopholes, reduction of corporate welfare, and a general simplification of the tax code is part of the package, all the better.

"This company used our government resources, and our intelligence community, and our armed forces to facilitate coups in order to protect their profits and to maintain control over foreign agricultural land and resources. Their intent to avoid taxes reveals why these companies should never be afforded a privileged position in our political economy. They have no country and no loyalty. We are making citizens of consciously sociopaths whose entire existence is simply a legal fiction to shelter the wealthy and investors from responsibility for the action of the company. The way corporations exist in the U.S. and in many ways; the world cannot be allowed to stand. These legal fictions must be brought under control or destroyed before they destroy the social contract and the concept of representative government."

Wendy's yes. I would eat there, the others as well, but their food is price way too high. I don't like fast food and I never go out to eat. I grill my own and it tastes better. Why spend money on food that is very unhealthy for you in the first place?

If the corporate tax rates were lowered or eliminated, there would be no need for inversions. Corporate profits are taxed upon the sale of stock, so why should there be a corporate income tax? It's double taxation.
