We should go after Billy Beane.

Would bring renewed excitement to the fan base. he's essentially the only rock star in the GM business and his track record is impeccable. I don't know him personally so I'm not sure what his deal with the A's is. I'm not saying we can get him, but I'm saying we should really make a strong effort to get him.
    thank you weso1!

Would be interesting. i think he's bound and determined, though to get it done one day in Oakland. He would probably seek to overhaul a good portion of the roster.

The thing with Beane is that he does seem to be somewhat desperate in Oakland. He made the big trade for Lester and it maybe isn't going to work out for him. He might be feeling a bit of heat in Oakland for the first time. Not sure how well a superstar GM would work with JS and Bobby though.
    thank you weso1!

I wonder how Beane would fare in Atlanta with a payroll almost twice as much as Oakland's.

Twice as well is where my math is at. 170 wins per year.

Beane isn't leaving Oakland. I konw it's a weso pipe dream. But he's a part owner in Oakland, so he'd have to sell his stake in it to go anywhere.

If he wasn't going to leave for the Red Sox he isn't going to leave for Atlanta.

Want somebody who will help construct a championship team. It's not about finding a "rock star" to try and impress kids who think they're experts on advanced metrics.
