    Future Hall of Fame discussion

With Jeter's career winding down, the last of the for sure HOFers right now.

So I want to discuss the guys who probably should get in with their HOF comps.

First I will talk about our own Andruw Jones. Andruw has the exact same career fWAR as Ozzie, He didn't age well, so his defensive number takes a big hit cause of lack of cumulation. But he's clearly a superior offensive player to Ozzie. Andruw also is superior to Roberto Alomar, slightly worse as a hitter but far superior at defense.

Next up is Scott Rolen and Adrian Beltre, They're not too far off production wise from Ron Santo and Paul Molitor, though not quite the same level of hitter as those 2, they are superior defenders.

Last one is Schilling, there's no way he's not a HOFer for me. He's better than so many already in the hall.

ANd one I can't quite make a case for despite his high fWAR is Halladay.

Tony Oliva and Jim Kaat are borderline candidates, who deserved consideration.

From the current crop, Clayton Kershaw is a future HOFer.

Well length of career plays a part. Halladay needed a few more years to lock himself in. Though maybe Kershaw gets in Koufax style.

Smoltz should definitely be discussed. I also think that Bonds and Clemens should be in, but that's a whole different issue.

Speaking of which, I got bored last night and did this baby in preparation for my return trip to Cooperstown next summer.

No current pitcher is. A couple years ago, we probably would have said that about Lincecum and Verlander, but just seems a pitcher's career can change on a dime these days, especially with the rash of Tommy Johns.

As for position players, Pujols and Ichiro come to mind as locks already. Big Papi needs to be, he's been so much more than just a DH for the Red Sox.

If Halladay played for a big market team instead of Toronto for most of his prime this wouldn't even be a discussion IMO.

Depends on Sabathia's health for the next 5 years.

Also, Kimbrel might have established his candidacy in the next 4-5 years.

I'd also like to point out in my disgust that the writers will break the streak of not allowing unanimous election by allowing Jeter and Rivera to be the first two first ballot unanimous elections.

Rivera won't be unanimous. Many people don't think that closers should be in the hall.

    But he's:

    1) A Yankee
    2) Greatest Closer of All Time

Again, if Rivera doesn't get unanimous, he may very well best Seaver's mark.

Then when Jeter gets on the ballot it's all but certain he'll get 99.9% or 100%.

Still absolutely freaking moronic that some people like Maddux, Rivera, etc. wouldn't get 100 percent on the first ballot. This is not complicated, or shouldn't be.

Hall of Famers more than likely:

    Smoltz
    Biggio
    Rivera
    Jeter
    Cabrera
    Kershaw
    Chipper
    Pujols
    Ichiro
    Ortiz
    Thome
    Trevor Hoffman
plus whatever surprises the veteran's committee has in store

p.s. I belive Bonds and Clemens should be in as well.
