I told you guys already. He would seriously consider the job if he were offered it. I got a bunch of people poo-poo'ing the thought (not of Chipper as hitting coach but the likelihood of him accepting such a job) but I'm telling you I know otherwise. I'll leave it at that.

I didn't read it that way. I read Fredi deserves a chance to manage without Frank's meddling. Also read that Cox may well return to the dugout.

Which would already be 200% more of an endorsement than anyone on here calling for Fredi's head would say.

I didn't read in his comments that Cox would return to the dugout, but rather Cox wasn't so ready to leave when he and Wren were on bad terms. I had no idea it was that bad between them, until Jeff Schultz wrote that Bobby actually packed up his belongings in his car during Spring Training 2009 and headed home because of Frank, until the other coaches lured him back.

If we didn't already have a damned good pitching coach, Smoltzie or Glavine would be my pics, would love to have either back in a Braves uni ... Maybe McDowell becomes the manager , chipper the hitting coach and Smoltz the pitching coach. John does seem like he'd enjoy the job. Have to wonder how much better Smoltz could make Teheran or Tommy could make Minor or Wood. I remember Damian Moss publicly crediting Glavine with helping him through his rookie season. Has Glavine ever spoke of the possibility?

I found Chipper's comments on Walker and Fletcher really interesting. IF they really are "very, very good", then how bad does that make our hitters? Or rather how stubborn and uncoachable does that make them appear?

Perhaps it was Frank all along making Fredi play BJ and bat him leadoff. If so, that would explain how he avoided getting the ax.

If all this stuff is true about Wren, shame on the organization for keeping him around this long. He should've been fired when he first started trying to push Bobby out. All of this is either bull**** or the Braves just stood around and let this guy run off a HOF manager and slowly destroy the team.

It's only been an impression I've had because I obviously don't know the whole story, but I got the feeling that Wren was managing from his office a lot this season, especially with Uggla and M. Upton. Big investments that Wren wanted to have work out. It was clear to all that Uggla's baseball talent mysteriously vanished (I was never a big fan of Uggla, but I've also never seen a decent player lose it all so quickly) last season and that bringing him back for another shot was a bit ludicrous. Pretty much the same for M. Upton, although he still has the look of a toolsy guy. What makes me think Frank had his nose in Fredi's business is that Fredi used Pena and Schafer much more liberally in 2013 than he did in 2014 and I was wondering why Uggla and M. Upton were continually trotted out there this season. I'm not defending Schafer or Pena as players per se, just pointing out that the usage pattern was very different this season and I have wondered why.

Wren may be one of those guys that is a very good second banana in the front office who simply can't do the job when sitting in the big chair.
