KC has a real power bullpen. They don't have anyone at Kimbrel's level, but Herrera, Davis, and Holland are all pretty tough.

I think KC is a classic getting hot/lucky at the right time type of team. Just get in the playoffs and who knows what can happen. And I'm really pulling for that team. I'm a really big fan of Kansas City. I lived there for a year and I really loved that city.

Solid, not spectacular. Their power in the post-season has been a bit surprising, although Hosmer has shown that he can drive the ball in the past.

In terms of talent, the Royals probably have one of the worst teams in the playoffs. They're not only getting hot at the right time, but they're executing! Something our team hasn't done all year. They also play with fire and passion. I can't stress enough though the fact that they execute when it counts. Their timely hitting reminds me a lot of our 2013 team which unfortunately couldn't put it together in the playoffs.

I generally agree. It's not about small ball per se, but execution is kind of overlooked in the scheme of things these days. I think thethe alluded to it in a different thread, but the post-PED era is upon us and the style of ball has changed somewhat. Eras come and eras go, but execution is the constant.
There is no root theory for success in the playoffs. 1960 Pirates and 1969 Mets kind of proved that. Those teams weren't in the same strata as the teams they beat to win it all.
I love KC too and I'm pulling for them to win it but let's remember they looked dead for 7 innings in the wild card game. They could have easily gotten beat by the A's and none of this would be happening.
You cited Hosmer and Moustakas as good players. They are not. They were bad this year, especially Moose. They've both come up with timely hits. Things are going right for them at the right time. I wouldn't mind seeing them win. But there's no reason we can't be better than them next year. They aren't better than Detroit, or LA, but played better in a short sample. That's baseball.
That's post-season baseball. I love the intensity of post-season play, but have always regarded the regular season as a better measure of the quality of a team.
Exactly. I would say they even overachieved in the regular season, and it is certainly arguable that our core is better.
This has been going on since the dawn of baseball. I learned it when I was seven and the Yankees were beaten by the Pirates.

Which is all the exact opposite of what the Royals did all year long. They view their team the same way Braves fans view their team, crappy offense, no "clutch" hitting, worst manager ever, don't play with passion, and can't play small ball. They are just on a hot streak and your never as good as you look when your hot and never as bad as you look when your slumping. Unless your BJ.

I visited KC a few weeks ago. I am a runner attempting to run a race in all 50 states. I ran in KC, KS and KC, MO on back-to-back days and saw the Red Sox and Royals on a Saturday night. It was the night USC beat Georgia. I am pulling for KC and Ned Yost.
