I don't think the Braves should trade for a starter. I think over the rest of the season the difference between Wood/Beachy and someone like Peavy is probably only a win or so.

In the playoffs you need 3 starters. We know Minor is one. We have to use Tehran now as 2. Then we can play the hot hand at 3. Wood might be a good playoff starter with his odd delivery, especially if you plan on getting him out before his 3rd time through. If Beachy is Beachy by the end of the year, then we're in good shape.

The farm system isn't great now. I think we may have to make some bold moves in the future with people like Heyward and Kimbrel about to get expensive. I'd hate to spend assets on Pitching. I really think we have good pitching in the minors if we'd give them a chance.

I think the Braves should still focus on getting another bullpen arm. Their is still a lot of pitching.

Man, I just hate this for Huddy. He really was pitching the best ball he has all year.

I missed that game. Glad we won and are now up 8 games. Very tough news on Hudson. I just saw the replay and cant believe it. We just have to replace Huddy with Beachy and Maholm with Wood and see how it goes. A rotation of Minor, Teheran, Beachy, Medlen, Wood talent wise isnt that bad, but experience wise not good. If I were Wren, Id be checking in on other starters. I know Maholm will be back but he was getting shelled and heaven forbid another injury or 2. I understand in the playoffs you need 3 starters but I dont think Minor-Teheran-Beachy is good enough.

Why not? I know Peavy is a name, but I'm not sure his talent is much better than those guys. We aren't getting Harvey or Lee. Who is out there? Unless we buy the Cuban pitcher, I don't think external options are great.

If we are going to spend our limited assets, then I'd like a big upgrade.

Because we dont know how Beachy is going to react coming off TJS. Hopefully well.
Joe Simpson explained how they had to give Teheran extra rest and it was much needed bc he was showing signs of wearing down. Will he wear down?
Minor has been great, but can he keep it up?
What if one of these guys get hurt?

Peavy and Ervin Santana would be great additions IMO. Would give us more options for the playoff rotation.
