Quintana was the PTBNL the Brewers acquired in the John Axford trade. 5'11 with low-90's heat. Welcome back, Roy Clark and Co.!

Bah, I liked Wren. Hope this kid can end up contributing somewhere.

Have to get that stench out of our mouths.
We are in for a hurting. Brian Asselstine, Rowland Office, Pepe Frias and crowd favorite Biff Pocoroba days are ahead I am afraid because of Wren.
I have all their baseball cards. You know it is bad luck when they are in every pack you bought back then. Guaranteed cards.

Apparently Wren was no Jonathon Schueholz Jr.
Is there a John Hart Jr. out there?
I'm not gonna cry spilled milk on this one, but I've felt that Wren could potentially develop into a usable piece at the MLB level as a backup outfielder/AAAA type player that provides speed/defense ala a Jordan Schafer type. We got nothing in return though.

This trade is for pretty much a bag of curveballs and the keys to the batters box.

I heard he was the one feeding his dad lineup suggestions to demand of Fredi.

Quintana was a 2012 third Rd pick. Guess we are banking on our pitching coaches to straighten him out.
Just because Devil Wren made a deal doesn't make it a bad one. It's like the team wants to reverse everything he did and unload any players he liked (and obviously get rid of his family). This is not going to end well.

Really? Can't say I understand this move. Obviously Wren was a very limited player but he was close to the majors and could definitely develop into a useful 4th OF. This doesn't make sense for a fringe middle relief prospect

Cool. People a player like this isn't needed at all.

thank God we have the good old boys running the front office
we can finally move forward now that all the Wrens are gone
what a joke they are

Unless young Wren asked for a trade, this seems really silly. It's one thing to include him in a trade you'd otherwise make, but just dealing him for the sake of completing a purge reeks of face-spiting nose removal.

Seems like in a pinch we could use a decent backup CF.

Hard to say. Maybe a 4th, but I thought more likely a 5th OF in the mold of Jordan Schafer. It's all going to depend on the situation for him.
It's probably not a purge, but would you want to stay in a system that just fired your father? Probably a mercy move more than anything else. Good luck to him.

Baseball America on Quintana: "Quintana developed the reputation for pitching away from contact and has little to no projection remaining, even at just 20. His secondary offerings, a curve and changeup, were deemed below average by an evaluator."
