Sweet...viz could be awesome and we have plenty of middle infielders. Smart move.
That tells me they will be spending their cash on the international FA's.
Also would assume Gosselin is our starting 2nd baseman until Peraza comes up in July.

Knew this was going to happen, and it is certainly best for Stella! because Fredi didn't like him at all. I hope he goes on to have a fantastic career.

I always liked Viz while he was here, dirty stuff. Haven't followed him in Chicago though. How's he been doing?
Just made it back to the big league this year after having arm/shoulder problems. Only appeared in 5 games but in the minors was still pretty good. WHIP was inflated because of his arm trouble.

This was a good move. Hopefully we are active on the international front now.

How many arm surguries has Viz had now?
Forever Fredi
This could mean that we may be big players for Yoan Moncada!

Kind of an oddball move.
I think La Stella has a shot and Vizcaino is coming off an injury. Never can have too many hard-throwers and Viz is that if healthy.
I find it hard to believe they'd hand the 2B job to Gosselin, but who knows.
So hart and company hate frank wren so much they are going to trade for anyone he traded away

The Braves and Cubs sure love making trades with each other.

Mixed feelings. I like the possibility of Vizcaino being utilized in the late innings (and could allow us more comfort in moving, say, Carpenter) but I also think the Braves might've gotten more for LaStella from another team. The international slots are interesting, I suppose.
I hope Zito is ok when he finds out this news.

Personally think it was more about clearing the way for Peraza to step in the second he's ready and the international pool concerns (even if it's not Moncada).
If Tommy was keeping the spot warm for Jose (which we all assume), and he didn't hit during April we wouldn't have gotten *hit for him.
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...
Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?
This trade indicates there is less of a chance Peraza will be moved to another position of need (say third or center). More than ever he is our second baseman of the future. Probably not right out of spring training, but at some point in 2015 he'll be playing second and batting in one of the top two spots in the order.
Having Viz back increases the chances that Walden or Carpenter is traded.
Strange that we would trade Tommy, who is one of the few OBP guys we have, for another pitcher dealing with arm problems. I guess the international slots/money gained might make up the difference. But I hate to see Tommy go. Best of luck to him..
