Braves Trade Heyward, Walden to Cardinals for Miller and Tyrell Jenkins

Heyward was my favorite brave but statistically he can easily be replaced for much cheaper. Maybe not defensively but plenty of players can put up better seasons than that.

Jason was very upfront and frank in his interview after the trade. All Hart had was "well I assumed" and "I didn't see it." I'm not even saying Hart was lying. I totally believe he foolishly assumed. I don't see why I should ASSUME Jason is lying.

We could have competed NEXT YEAR. And for the foreseeable future. And we're mortgaging that for.. what, exactly? A chance in two years to be as good as we could have been next year?

Jason was our best player and our brightest hope for the future. This is absolutely appalling.

Personally Walden doesn't even feel like a semi-big deal compared to Heyward. Walden is overshadowed right now in my mind, he's good, but way more replaceable. I wouldn't have minded dealing him and saving 2-2.5 mil using a rookie/minor leaguer.

Braves and Heyward spoke last off-season on an extension. This is documented. Both sides exchanged numbers and Heyward ultimately settled on a 2 yr deal, making it very clear he was more interested in testing FA. You are fooling yourself if you think the Braves never offered an extension. May be they didn't offer this off-season. What does it matter? Heyward gonna magically change his mind to accept whatever offer was there last off-season?

Obviously Wren is now the Great Satan of Braves Nation, but Wren himself said it was the Braves' preference to sign Heyward to a short-term deal, versus a long-term extension, prior to the 2014 season.

I feel the combination of Jason's eye, contact ability, and overall game would have been a good bet to make. Power can fluctuate for young players. Even when he isn't hitting to an .840 OPS he shows signs, like low-Ks, high-BB, good contact, etc. In fact, when he K'd more and walked less, he saw he big increase in power. It's pretty reasonable to like his tools, even when he's not hitting homers, and it's easy IMO to see the all-around game. Contact, base-running, defense, patience. He's plenty young enough to turn it up.

Today started with the Braves trading away one of my favorite players and ended with the Gators blowing a 15-point lead to Miami. Today sucks so much ass, and not awesome Nicki Minaj ass.

He's going to have a Trout-like .290/.370/.500 season one of these days. It's pretty much inevitable.

He had a sub-3 ERA, and we gave them him on top of Heyward.

My first exposure was someone mentioning how we traded the "disappointment" that is Jason Heyward and got back the "Ace" Shelby Miller. I was irked to say the least.
