I figured by now the Braves would have multiple World Series Championship after being lead the last decade by the HOF rotation of Wainwright, Bubba Nelson, & Andy Pratt.

I mean what a freakin douche, absolute moron. I mean, we all knew that Wainwright was going to be a good one, a top of the rotation starter, that was known but to hype Nelson and Pratt the way he did was absolutely absurb....and not only that his arguments with me we're classic....along with the classic PM's bashing me saying I didn't have any credibility and didn't know squat.

The guy is a complete tool.....who in their right mind who saw Andy Pratt pitch thought he was the next Steve Carlton? I saw Pratt pitch multiple times, didn't see anything special but this guy right here compared him to Steve Carlton of all freakin people. And Bubba Nelson was the next (but better) Derek Lowe and I could go on and on.

The guy was delusional as hell. Glad to see that something never change.

The fact that Sandoval just got $20MM shows Heyward deserves at least that much. I really can't wait to see what kind of bargain hunting the FO think they're going to do, or why an unknown Cuban + an average player is worth more than Heyward. We'll see.

And is it right that even if we do sign Moncada or Tomas, we'd have to pay 100% tax on it? So if we sign one for 5/50, it's like 20 mil a year?

No, the 100% tax is only true for Moncada.

    Yeah, just read that.
So a team may be on the hook for 30 mil a year if they sign him for like 4/60 or 5/75?

It depends, the extra 830k in slot money reduces it by 830k for us. Plus I am not sure how they break down the 100% tax as far as whether or not it is payed straight away or over the life of the contract. See nsacpi's posts here for a more detailed answer.

That said, it seems the Yankees will be bidding on him and I doubt we'd outbid them.

I had understood that the big money teams are out because they didn't hold any space back?

If they sign someone over their allotment they pay a tax and are unable to sign anyone for more than 300k? Incorrect?

That is true for some teams, such as the Cubs and Rangers but isn't so for the Yankees. BA's Ben Badler lists the Nationals, Giants, Tigers, Rays, Angels, Braves, Red Sox, and Yankees as teams teams that, in his estimation, are best situated to make a serious run at Moncada. He notes that New York would figure to be the favorite if they decide that they want Moncada (see his list and write up here). Since this piece was posted there have been a few sources and rumors of the Yankees being interested.

Not exactly. If they went over their slot last year, then they can't sign anyone big this year. They didn't last year. However, they are already over their allotment this year, so they already won't be able to sign anyone over $300k next year. If anything, it would seem like that'd give them more incentive to buy up dudes now.
