Victorino if the money is similar and depending on cost in a trade. However, my first choice is still to see us sign Olivera.

So Alex Rodriguez just released a weird, hand-written apology:

Peter Gammons of GammonsDaily.com reports that five teams are now willing to bid over $70 million for Cuban infielder Hector Olivera.
With that kind of bidding war, it's looking like Olivera will be able to surpass Rusney Castillo's record six-year, $72.5 million contract from last year. Olivera hasn't officially been declared a free agent by Major League Baseball yet, but it should happen before long. He's being looked at as a second baseman by most, but the Dodgers reportedly could be the favorites to sign him and they would put him at third base for the 2015 season.

Odd that we haven't heard anything about the arbitration hearing that was held today for Mike Minor.

Arbitrator ruled that flat billed caps are stupid and that Minor has enormous ears.

Hmm any idea why? All other cases have been announced the same day.

It is probably safe to say Minor lost and the Braves won the arbitration hearing. But either way the money won't be much different.

Not sure -- here is the story from the AP:

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — Pitcher Mike Minor and the Atlanta Braves have argued their positions in salary arbitration, with the sides $500,000 apart.

The 27-year-old left-hander asked Mark Burstein, Gil Vernon and Dan Brent to award him $5.6 million, and the Braves argued during Thursday's session that he should be paid $5.1 million.

    A decision is likely Friday.

Minor was 6-12 with a 4.77 ERA in 25 starts last year, when he missed the first month of the season because of shoulder soreness. He made $3.85 million.

    He went 13-9 with a 3.21 ERA in 2013.

Neither is what I would call an arbitrary judgment.

    PS--Minor strikes me as a bit of a pr*ck.

Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

From the time I spent living in Nashville. I'd say this is exactly true.

Well Minor ended up winning the arby case, he will get $5.6MM as opposed to the $5.1MM the Braves were offering. Hard to believe they couldn't find a middle point for just $500,000. Arb cases are never a good thing.

    Ken Rosenthal
Source: #Dodgers sign Brandon Beachy to 1-yr, major-league deal with club option for 16. Likely to start on DL as he recovers from 2nd TJ.

Wow, nearly double what he was expected to get if we had just offered him arbitration. Disappointing.

Exactly. I still don't agree with not offering him arbitration given the extra year of control. I understood on Medlen because he was due a lot, but Beachy was not due much and by doing so we could've likely traded him later.

I'm fine with letting him walk... There's only one starter who's ever really come back from 2 TJ surgeries successfully and that was Capuano... And he's not exactly a lights out starter. The chances Beachy or Medlen do much of anything are slim to none. The odds just aren't there so why even waste a cent?
