I'll credit Hart for this: he's undeniably holding strong on Upton and Gattis. If you had asked me a week ago, I would have bet on Justin being gone by now. But Hart has his price, and he rightly recognizes that he's holding the two big right-handed power options on the market. I'm still nervous about the final return when a trade is completed, but at least he's not jumping the gun.

Ugh I hope this master plan for Theo and the Cubs goes down the toilet because their fans are the worst, the absolute worst! Make Yankee, Mets, and Phillies fans look civil compared to most of those idiots.
Have compassion on poor Cubs fans. When have they ever had something to cheer for? I'd actually find it quite amusing to watch them contend.
Honestly, Braves fans aren't the worlds best fans either. I've always hated how it takes a miracle to fill the Ted, and now we get a new park, though I'm not sure it's deserved.
What about getting a third team involved for Upton for example:
Reds get: Justin Upton, Tyler Pastornicky, Aaron Northcraft
Rangers get: Johnny Cueto, James Russell, Brayan Pena
Braves get: Jurickson Profar, Michael Lorenzen, Nomar Mazara and Alex Gonzalez

Now that the Giants appear to be in on Justin after failing to sign Lester, I would love to pry catcher Andrew Susac from them. He is blocked by Posey and they have a history of trades like this like Beltran/Wheeler. I would say Justin is worth more since they get a full year plus draft pick and Wheeler was the better prospect.

I've got a better idea. Uggla comes off the books this year at $13m. Justin expires at $14.5. Give Justin Uggla's money and his own. Extent Justin at $27.5m for six, $165m. Go seven if necessary.
Let's forget all this foolishness about flipping him and draft picks and such. We've got to pay someone to compete - why not him?

Going to be interesting seeing now what the Giants, Mariners, Texas and the Orioles do. Will one of them bite?

I'm also on the keep Justin train. Need a righty to pair with Freddie, and there aren't many better than Justin in baseball. He has his flaws for sure, but having 2 mashers locked up makes me feel a little better about future prspects.
That said if someone blows us away I wouldn't be opposed to trading him, but I want a Teixeira level blow away. 3 top prospects, 2 who're major league ready and some stretch guys.

Really want to extend Justin as well, but don't know that we can do it.
That said, the Reds just cleared $13.5 million in projected arbitration salaries in the Latos and Simon deals - wonder if they now jump in on Justin with Cespedes gone.
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...
Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?
Count me in on the train for keeping Justin unless we're completely blown away. The options to fill that OF hole if we do trade him are evaporating.
This was my biggest issue in dealing Jason rather than extenting him. There aren't that many better options long-term to replace him, and the ones that are better bets likely won't become available. Same thing for Justin. Who are our future OFers if he's dealt? Unless we get a really nice OF prospect for him, or deal from our young pitching, I doubt we come across a better option.
