I doubt the offense could be much worse than last year honestly but this year we should have better pitching.

You do know we were 29th last year with all the "stud" hitters we had.

In rankings? Sure, it can't get much worse.

In run production? It can get a lot worse

TJ hurts any players value, marginally though. The success rate these days has to be considered close to the 90th percentile. So although it's a risk, it's not much of one.

Maybe we can trade for Justin in July? Pads should be out of it by then.

Slightly OT, but what in the blue hell is Preller doing here? He's getting reasonably good value, but the pieces don't all seem to make sense. Padres are facing a real downgrade in their overall defense. This seems like an adderal-fueled frenzy he's on that is more exciting than it is thoughtful.

It can be worse and likely will be. And I doubt our pitching is close to being better.

It could and it could get slightly better (although more unlikely). Again, this move was about a rebuild. I'm willing to endure a down year or two as long as these players show promise. Not sure how anyone can say that the players we got back aren't interesting as potential everyday players

It is certainly possible. How likely; that's debatable.

    Hart:

"Look, 2 things in play here. Look, anytime you have an opportunity to acquire a pitcher with high upside that has had Tommy John surgery, you have to do it, because, look, it ensures almost completely that they will come back healthier, stronger, and better than before, and look you don't have to worry about the potential for them to have to go under the knife in the future. Look, the other thing in play here is, when you look at it, we need speed. Look, we feel as an organization we need to upgrade athletically and especially speed. Look, look at the Kansas City Royals, they ran themselves to almost the World Series. As it is, it's not as important to look at the ability of one player to posses the skills to get on base, but more so the ability to look and see the potential to get on base and move forward and quickly and touch home base without, look the ability to hit the ball out of the ballpark. Look, that's what we've gotten, that's what he have done, and look that's where we are going forward as an organization."

In order to re-build to compete for a championship, we will need to acquire or develop players of Upton/Heyward caliber.

There is nothing in the minor league pipeline. And we have made it clear that we are unwilling/unable to pay for the talent… So what is our plan?

Freakin laughable that our main piece is a guy that's damaged goods. I know the success rate of TJS, but there's still a ton of risk involved with a injured pitching prospect. Hart has proven to be a dunce since taking over.

Ship Gattis off, he is the best asset among all we have/had as far a $ vs production.
