One of the reasons (and I'm not saying it's a main reason, or a big reason) that our offense struggled was Justin himself. Last year he hit .228 with RISP with 51 Ks in 162 ABs. In 2013 he was at .243. Sorry, but that stuff hurts. SSS? Flukey? Ok, I can buy that. But it didn't help. For a relied upon run producer to hit that consistently poor with RISP over two seasons hurts. "Clutch," or timely, hits are so important in baseball, and honestly Justin did not come up with very many in his two years. I'm just saying it hurt us a least a little bit.
Justin was poor with RISP. That's a fact. When your number 4 hitter doesn't hit well with RISP, it hurts. Again, point to sample size or flukes. I can hear it. But the raw numbers are what they are, and they aren't good.
I didnt watch all of our games, but 29 HR's, 100+ RBI's, Justin was our best hitter last year, come on.
There were lots of reasons the Braves decided to move on from Jason and Justin. With Justin more than anything it was about swinging and missing. Thats not where baseball is going. Its going back to a more traditional environment before PED's. Where players actually had to control the strike zone and sacrifice power to make contact.
