I do not buy this for a minute, Drew made 10M last year, he would have to take a 1/5 of that for the Braves to even consider it. And a guy that hit in the .160 for 2014 is not what the doc ordered.

Rather sign Bonafacio and use him as super sub and let him play 2b til Peraza is ready. Or ditto that but with Gosselin.

This only makes somewhat sense if the Braves are hoping to get a good 1st half outta him so they can flip him at the deadline for a prospect, like with Johnson.

Doesn't make sense? He is an elite defender at second and the team is quickly becoming right handed heavy. While a lot of people here have already concede the next 10 years the Braves still plan to compete in 2015.

When Peraza comes up Drew can take some at bats from CJ at 3b and fill in at SS if Andrelton ' s bat doesn't improve. If I was the Braves I would point towards JD Drew and his career year as a Brave.

It's funny when I suggested this a month ago someone said Drew said he wouldn't play any position but short.

If we could sign him for a 1 year deal with a team option or a moderately priced 2 year deal he would be a great buy low deal with the potential to flip for more young talent at the deadline.

A few random thoughts on Drew.

    1) Could play third as well as second. This is great because third is as much a potential problem.

    2) Could potentially allow Peraza to play center. Also great because center is a big area of need as well.

    3) Our infield defense would be quite strong. Nice. But would be even nicer if we didn't have a predominantly fly ball oriented starting pitching rotation. I really hope our fifth starter is a ground ball pitcher because our staff as is currently constituted is going to be hurt by our poor outfield defense (assuming Gattis in left).

    4) Would reduce the odds of Peraza making the team out of spring training. A good thing imo for reasons having to do with service clock considerations and the benefit Peraza would derive from some seasoning in AAA.

Except for one thing, Stephen Drew can't hit for ****. Would rather go with Gosselin.

It only doesn't make sense if you believe that the front office is full of incompetence. These are exactly the types of signings I'm expecting for the next year or two until we move into Cobb County.

Pretty much nothing can be a bad deal if it's a 1 year contract at this point.

We all know how much playing at home means to the Drew family.

This is a thirty-one-year-old who hit .160 last year, who I would expect to be—given his past—looking for a pretty robust annual salary, and who would be of potentially limited value to the Braves organization, given their depth at various positions and on each side of the ball.

There are certain considerations that could make Drew's acquisition potentially savvy—short-term, low value, with the intent to flip if value is rebuilt—but there are plenty of reasons to be skeptical that this would be a good signing for the Braves.

I swear, this same thread was started overi a year ago, maybe more than once. I declare a moratorium on the Drew family, once and for all.

He wasn't clutch and couldn't hit lefties and was injury prone and would've asked for 16-17 mil a season. What we had wasn't working that's why La Stella, Laird, Walden, Heyward and others are gone and Gattis or an Upton will be gone as well. It has to happen, it will happen so believe in Hart and Scherholtz or find another team.
Kind of makes you wonder if some of the kiddies, from this place, are the same troll babies constantly whining over on other sites. The other (and scarier) option is that there's a bigger online army of these fools.
