I don't think Peraza is off the table. IF we could convert him to a prospect of more need, then we should. That being said, that never happens.

You are underestimating the value of young cost controlled players (including highly rated prospects) and not taking into account that proven players are being paid market value for the most part. To build a winning team on a budget you need quite of bit of production at below market rates.

If we trade Peraza for a Chris Johnson-esque player, then I'll be going for what Niners seems to be drinking to ease the pain. :)
Seriously though, this all started over a nonsensical comment by Bowden so it is hard to take this discussion serious.

Haha...that's cold...but I did tee it up for you
I don't know why we'd trade Peraza. I agree his walk rate is low and his batting average is likely to dip some at the big league level. I don't know where that would put him in terms of OBP (probably around .320 or something). Supposedly good defensively. I don't think he's an automatic star, but he's a good piece to the puzzle.
Did Bowman put this Peraza thing out there before or after he listed a bunch of trades for us including a minor league second basemen in every trade?
thank you weso1!
How many prospects out there project better than Peraza? Including defense and the ability to play SS at a high level.

I think this was Bowden who put this out. Regardless, I don't see Peraza being included in any trade. I thought he would be more highly thought of by this board...I for one like him a lot. This season should be a better gauge of where he is.

We really have no clue as to how well he may do in the bigs. I think the reason he is highly regarded by everyone is that he is the lone position player we think could be ready within a year.

The Atlanta Braves signed Nick Markakis for 4/45 - Never forget 12/3/2014

Maybe that's why the Braves would consider trading him. He's not going to play SS for us, but he could play SS for someone else, which would conceivably up his trade value.
I'll be honest that I didn't like his batting stance when I watched a short video of him. Can't see how he would ever generate any power. But his speed is supposedly a plus-plus tool.
