Trading for fowler would be pointless in the grand scheme of what the Braves are trying to do..

Also, how the heck can teams perform a physical before a trade is made?

It sucks, but given the rest of the offseason and the obvious intent not to contend in the next two years, I think I agree.

On the other hand, if the Braves had spent the last five years in the American League, we could be discussing whether Chipper Jones could continue to hit, or if Gattis was ready to assume the DH role for the Braves.

I think Chipper could hit in his 90s, blind and in a wheelchair. He'd need help to get to first base, though...:)

You do wonder if Dexter Fowler might be a fit for the Braves in an Evan Gattis deal. Better OF fit.

    SP: Appel, Feliz, Hader, Velaquez,
Hart would need to get at least 2 of the 3B/OF guys in order for a Gattis trade to make sense.

It would be funny if Hart got another pitcher though.

No question about it. It's a shame the NL doesn't have the DH. If it did Gattis would not be considered for a trade.

The idea that Fowler would be involved is a plus. And as a salary swap of sorts for money for BJ.

Hart is not going to trade 4 years of Gattis for 1 year of Fowler.

That type of trade would have made sense if they were trying to win in 2015. An OF of Fowler, JUp and Heyward would have been pretty sweet, but what would be the point now?

No need to dump BJ if we are going to suck. Get the most you can for just Gattis

Fair point. I think the idea is that the Braves can dump BJ has to do with possibly being able to go bonkers next FA. With all the SP prospects we brought in we could trade MM and have enough potential funds to go and get 2 high FAs. If we freed up a chunk of BJ money we could be in on Jason or Justin next FA. We'll get absolutely no discount from them but we wouldn't really need it.

#Braves say they’re keeping their options open. We’ll see.

Kind of a vague tweet, but whatever.

Rosenthal tweets that a trade agreement must be in place and the commish notified before a player can take a physical with another team.

Whichever one of those SP's who most recently had Tommy John is who we will trade for.

It has to be that. I've never heard of a team allowing a player to take a physical with another team.

I dont think Jason or Justin are options at this pointment next year. If you're telling me that they dump Beej and sign Mona da then I'm on boars.
