I understand the idea of shipping Gattis to an American League. And I think we got a couple pretty good prospects in return. But I'm underwhelmed with this deal. I don't think we got good value.

Don't get me wrong I completely understand the strategy of this offseason. I just feel it's hard not to be a little depressed about its execution. I seriously have my doubts if well be able to compete by 2017. I just don't see how were going to score runs. Also can anyone e come up with even a slight hint to why we signed Markakis?! Like seriously, someone have even a guess? That signing was mind boggling. Oh well I'll save a lot of money by not making any Braves inspired vacation for a couple years.

Source: Astros-Braves Gattis deal, which is not completed, would include player/players not known at this point. We don’t have full picture.
Probably just pending physicals at this point. Braves want to make sure each prospect has had or needs to have Tommy John surgery.
thank you weso1!

I think it's important to note that Hart very well may have had no say in the Braves decision to rebuild. I personally believe when Hart was offered the job he was told the plan was to rebuild and put a playoff contender out there in 2017. And in fact I think that's one of the main reasons Hart took the job. So, while it's fair to complain about the prospects Hart has obtained I think it's unfair to blame him on the decision to rebuild.
thank you weso1!

I'm sure the front office have a much better handle on this than I do, but I wonder what kind of assumptions they are making about attendance and revenues in 2015 and 2016. Here's to hoping they don't see too much of a downside surprise. Maybe the real plan is to continually suck and stock up the farm system so that we have a tremendous team when we get a new tv deal in 2033.
Drellich also adds that the biggest concerns heading into Gattis’ physical are his back and right knee, and the concern is fairly significant. While Drellich’s previous report that we may not yet know the identity of all players in the deal created a wide range of speculation, he now adds that B.J. Upton is not in the deal. Astros righty Vincent Velasquez was discussed, however Drellich notes that Velasquez has his own health issues (All Twitter links).
Meanwhile, MLB.com’s Brian McTaggart tweets that Gattis is expected to play mostly left field in Houston, with occasional appearances at first base and catcher (assuming, of course, the deal is completed).
DOB mentioned that we'd probably trade for a LF.
