You know ole Fredi can't help but go with the righy/lefty lineup things so he'll have either Simmons or BJ in the 2 hole. Probably Simmons because you don't want BJ in the 2 hole.

I personally would like us to sign a veteran for the 5th spot in the rotation and put Banuelos in AAA and let him continue to come back and be our 6th starter. That would give us 7 starters with Hale.
    thank you weso1!

    Lineup:
    1. Markakis RF
    2. Simmons SS
    3. Freeman 1B
    4. Gattis LF
    5. Johnson 3B
    6. Callaspo 2B
    7. Upton CF
    8. Bethancourt C

Rotation: Teheran, Minor, Miller, Wood, Harang

Pen: Kimbrel, Grilli, Simmons, Johnson, Hale, Avilan, Russell

Bench: Pierzynski is the only lock. The competition for the two infield spots will be between Peterson, Gosselin, Pastornicky. Among the outfielders, two spots will be up for grabs with the candidates being Almonte, Cunningham, Terdoslavich, Constanza and Hunter. In those types of competitions whether a player is out or options or not often plays a surprisingly large role. Unless they play themselves out of competition during spring training this will help Almonte, Constanza and Pastornicky. It is unclear if Toscano will have a visa by spring training. I suspect even if he did he will end up starting his career in the minors.

Thanks for responding guys! Here's my guess at it...

    Opening Day Lineup:

    1. (LH) Nick Markakis - RF
    2. (RH) Andrelton Simmons - SS
    3. (LH) Freddie Freeman - 1B
    4. (RH) Evan Gattis - LF
    5. (RH) Chris Johnson - 3B
    6. (S) Alberto Callaspo - 2B
    7. (RH) Christian Bethancourt - C
    8. (RH) B.J. Upton - CF

    Bench:

    (LH) A.J. Pierzynski - C
    (RH) Phil Gosselin - 3B/2B/SS/OF
    (LH) Jace Peterson - 2B/3B
    (S) Zoilo Almonte - OF
    (LH) Nate Schierholtz - OF
*I feel they will have to get an extra OF to use as a defensive replacement for Gattis late in games

    Starting Rotation:

    1. Julio Teheran - RHP
    2. Alex Wood - LHP
    3. Shelby Miller - RHP
    4. Mike Minor - LHP
    5. Aaron Harang - RHP

    Bullpen:

    Craig Kimbrel - CL
    Jason Grilli
    Jim Johnson or Michael Kohn
    James Russell
    Luis Avilan
    David Hale

Looking at this projected team is paper is not inspiring much optimism. Then again, we looked amazing on paper last year and went on a free fall.
