    Oil Prices

As Oil prices plummet, rumors are that they're doing it cause OPEC doesn't want US to invest in various other ways to get oil like Shale and so on so forth.I'm starting to wonder, if it isn't being done to shaft the Russians and Venezuelans. Unlike the Saudis and other oil rich OPEC nations, Russia and Venezuela aren't sitting on a stock pile of cash and oil. The price of oil for them has more of a direct effect than on the wealth of OPEC nations who take a hit in their riches but aren't hurt functionally.

Just some musing on my part, not sure if I'm close to being right, just projecting on what I've read.

It's going to change the oil market over the short run, but I have no idea about the long run. It will be interesting to see if consumption goes up dramatically or if people use their savings on other items. If demand stays where it is, prices could stay where they are for quite a long time. I think the problem with the fracking operations in the US is that the initial investors may go belly up if the price drops too low, but those operations will be bought up by folks with ample capital and mothballed if necessary until the price point hits where it needs to be for them. I have a relative who works for a major agribusiness company and she says that company is still all in on biodiesel and ethanol, so they must see the long range market as being competitive.

Curious to see what this does to Russia. Probably just makes Putin act crazier.

    Calm down there scooter.

My thoughts on the matter are that the US and OPEC are trying to starve Russia and potentially ISIS.

ISIS is a blip on the map, they care way more about Russia. US could stomp out ISIS if they really wanted to. ISIS serves some positives for them, it will let them invade Syria if it gets bad enough.

It's the opposite. U.S. could destroy Russis easily.ISIS would be harder to defeat.

I think it's all supply vs demand

ISIS would take 1 thing, let Assad off the leash. Let someone like Hussein back in charge of Iraq, then go on.

Either way, it feels damn nice not having to take out a loan for a full tank.

Sad that many jobs in Canada and North Dakota are being lost because this bubble has been bursting but the bubble had to be seen from a mile away.

Even more mad that the oil companies told us for years high gas was inevitable but really they were gouging the price and manipulating the demand.

Only krg would argue that it would easier to destroy someone who could destroy us 10 times over instead of a rebel group that has no nukes/planes and very little tanks etc

Cause he believes the Fox News lies. He buys full into the fear of ISIL.

Like this the ISIL control map posted by most online

Vs the more accurate one posted by the BBC

One looks significantly worse than the other. As one is a glimpse into th eissue the other is more defined. And that's what people live off of. Glimpses of ISIL. They're bad people. But they're bad people who you could easily take care of if you let Assad off his leash and if you let the Iraqi government go bonkers. The US won't do that cause they want Assad to lose cause that's a blow against, wait for it, Russia. ISIL had all th emakings of an American backed in an extremely covert and round about way, force. There were thousands of troops from Saudi Arabia who're fighting there as well as a lot of money from the Saudis and Qatar. Lots of red flags for me.
