Winners And Losers Of The Offseason So Far

I'll get the negative out of the way first:

    Losers:
Braves Offense: This one is the most obvious. Losing Heyward, Justin Upton, and Gattis will be felt obviously. That's potentially at least 50 homers combined between the three.

Frank Wren: Some of the contracts he's given has forced some of these moves (see B.J. Upton). It's not only the contracts. It's also the fact that there have been very few players of impact from the minor leagues. That is probably as much as anything else got him fired.

Bandwagon Fans: If this is indeed a rough season coming up, they'll have to find another team to root for.

    Winners:
Braves Minor League System: It needed an influx of players. These deals have done just that. These moves have vaulted the farm system back up in the ranks. Going to be looking forward to watching how these players progress this season.

Program Sales At Turner Field: Fans will probably be buying a bunch of them.

Jose Peraza: If I'm this kid, I'm looking at the make up of the big league roster and thinking "Work my butt off in Spring Training and I have a chance to make it!". He has an opportunity.

At this point I'm not sure I see a positive in Peraza being on the ML team opening day. He's really young, very likely still needs polish, and the team has nothing to go for this year, anyway. Even if he does improve the team overall, it won't really matter. Make sure he's ready, even though fans want to see him. Or, be MORE sure he's ready, I should say.

Minor league games will occupy more of my time now. Haven't followed it daily since the days of Teheran/Delgado/Vizcaino.

They need to avoid super 2 with him. I think they will do just that.

Winner - Kimbrel - won't have to pitch back to back games very often which should extend his career.

Haha, I was also thinking that if Kimbrel has a sore shoulder next season we might not even find out because he'll get plenty of time off to rest it.

He has always had control problems when he has 3+ days rest so he might have a down year. He should still get 50 Dave's because he should be rested enough to get every save chance. I also can't see us outscoring teams by more than 3 runs often so every win might be a save chance. He is pretty much guaranteed an all star spot.
