    Vizcaino suspended 80 games

    Jeff Passan
    @JeffPassan
    Sources: Braves RHP Arodys Vizcaino suspended for 80 games for PEDs. Announcement expected sometime soon.

    @JeffPassan
    Vizcaino had thrown significantly harder this spring than he had in recent seasons. Will serve suspension at AAA, where he was sent Monday.

    This just gets better and better. Safe to say we lost that trade too. We might as well have given La Stella away.

    Would Stella even play with Peterson doing well?

    He'd play more than Vizcaino will, apparently.

    He tested positive for Stanozolol, which is the same PED that Mariners Rule V selectee David Rollins was also busted for recently.

    It's an anabolic steroid which builds muscle mass.

    Really... Great.

    I was against trading La Stella beforehand, now it looks even more awful.

    Let us remember the Braves also acquired international money in the LaStella-Vizcaino deal. They signed eight players with that money.

    If you didn't like the trade before this... fine. But you can't blame Hart for not being able to see the future and predicting Viz would hop himself up on the roids.

    This sucks. Only silver lining is that it's happened to a guy in AAA who we weren't expecting a contribution from after what he showed this Spring. Hopefully, it's a wake up call for him and he can still provide some value down the road.

    Disaster. I don't think TLS would play with Peterson around but you could just dump CJ and put TLS or Jace there. Ugh.

    Yeah, the roids apparently didn't help him much since he failed to make the team even tho it was a virtual lay up for him. I'm assuming he shot up this winter for a big spring push and the team didn't know he was positive when they optioned him.

    Have to believe that the Braves were aware of the positive test when Vizcaino was optioned ... figure, now, that was ultimately the reason.

    In Hart's defense, he really couldn't have seen this coming.

    Now with that in mind it's not like it's the end of the line for Vizcaino. Braves still have control of him for several years.
    thank you weso1!

    Viz has already missed a lot of time, missing another 80 games on top of that is very bad for him and the Braves. Plus he'll be out of options next season, so even if he's not ready you have to carry him on the roster or waive him.
