In all seriousness, this is the exact reason. None of those 70-year-old white dudes he works with would've entertained the idea of him NOT being black at one point in their life. Like during the 2008 election when they thought it would hurt him more than help, for example.

I think he's referring to the fact that Bill Clinton explicitly accused Obama of 'playing the race card' against him during the 2008 primaries.
David Axelrod recently claimed that Romney made a private jab toward Obama after the 2012 elections basically insinuating the black vote cost him Michigan and Ohio.

OK? Clinton IIRC said that in the dying days of Hilary's campaign or after she lost. Probably was bitter.
And what does that have to do with anything? Dems have carried the black vote at 90+% since at least 96. Even dull as a doorstop ultra white John Kerry pulled tons of the black vote. Seriously, don't get this notion that Obama only got the black vote for being black, when there's been a noticable trend in the minority votes getting pushed towards dems.
