Justin's "just another arm" at this point. Saw him play in high school (he went to the same high school as Braxton Davidson - about 30 miles from here), and a good comp for him could've been a young Simba. Smooth defensively, big arm, always questions about his bat. He kinda got passed in Toronto because of his offense, and they weren't interested in dedicating lots of time developing him as a Pitcher - 6.6 K/9, 4.5 BB/9 in 79 appearances at AA and below. Needs lots of work on location and control, sits 93-95 with his four-seamer and can touch 98. Slider and change are works in progress, but have shown signs. Another of those "scrap heap" type guys we've been so successful at turning into useful bullpen pieces IMO.
The Braves worked him out as a SS at Turner Field with Sam Runion before the 2007 draft. His dad played for the Astros (utility guy), and he was on the same Roberson team as Cameron Maybin when he was a Sophomore. Played for Donnie Suttles his Senior year - Donnie used to follow me and his Uncles around as a kid when we were playing.
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...
Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?
BTW, the more important article today is Matt Eddy's piece on how strikeout rates are changing player evaluation.
