Venters signs two year minor league deal with Rays

Rays signed LHP Jonny Venters to a two-year minor league deal.

The two-year deal makes sense, as Venters is going to miss the 2015 season. He's undergone three Tommy John surgeries in his career. When healthy, Venters has shown a live arm, but at this point, you have to wonder how much he has left in the tank. The Rays hope he can give them something in 2016. In 230 appearances with the Braves, Venters went 15-10 with a 2.23 ERA.

Glad that Jonny found a deal, hopefully he makes it back though it's obviously a long shot.

I assume that you are buying the potential upside. Figuring that it will take a year for him to rehab… You're not just financing the rehab, but owning his contract if he was to regain effectiveness.
