    Top TV Shows

What is your list of TV shows you'd consider your favorite. Let's limit it to 10. No other rules though. You can pick a show for any reason.

    Not in any particular order

    1. Seinfeld - Still watch it to this day despite seeing every episode several times.
    2. Simpsons - First 12 season or so are golden.
    3. South Park - Classic show
    4. King of the Hill - Great show so freaking classic, I miss it off of Netflix.
    5. Sunny - 11 seasons and still going strong. Rare for a show to have that kind of longevity and not turn sucky.
    6. Breaking Bad - Perfect example of serialized drama at it's pinnacle, JMO.
    7. Sherlock - Amazeballs show. It's long usually being over an hour per episode, but it's fan ****ing tastic.
    8. Luther - Amazeballs as well. Unlike Sherlock there's at least one more season. Idris Elba is fantastic
    9. Doctor Who - New series of course.
    10. Arrested Development - Best post Seinfeld sitcom comedy. Killed too soon as well

My wife just recently asked me what are my top5 tv show of all time. And it was very tough for me to answer. Personally in my top 5 I immediately answered Game of Thrones, Fringe and Seinfeld. After some thought I think I'd add X-Files.

I really liked Breaking Bad, but just not willing to add it to my top 5 other than by default. Right now I'm leaning toward Orphan Black if it continues to be excellent. Zito, if you haven't watched this show yet, you need to do yourself a favor and Amazon Prime that crap. Sherlock is also a very good show, but I feel like it's got an unfair advantage as it's only three episodes.

    So I'd go.

    1) Fringe
    2) Game of Thrones
    3) Seinfeld
    4) X-Files
    5) Orphan Black
    thank you weso1!

I've seen a few episodes of Orphan Black. I'm gonna wait til there are more so I can really binge watch it.

Sherlock has only 9 episodes. But they're all about 90 minutes run time. So it's a good amount of content. Not a ton, maybe I'm biased, but it's so fantastic. Sherlock is basically like 3 movie trilogies, it's so awesome.

Sherlock is great. Really a great watch and I love it, but they don't have as much fluff to fill. So they don't have to worry about episode 9 when it's a struggle to get the plot to move forward. This is where I feel like Orphan Black and Breaking Bad did an awesome job. Orphan Black has an episode in there where it really has little do do with the plot, but it's just such great filler that you leave really impressed with what they do. In fact I think that particular episode is my favorite of the series thus far. Breaking Bad was the same way, so maybe I'm selling it short.

The list begins and ends with Seinfeld. All shows are inferior.

I hate Seinfeld. Could never get into that show. Not my cup of tea. I do like Jerry Seinfelds new little show on Crackle. That's some funny stuff.

Is Band of Brothers considered a TV Show? If so, that's my favorite. Arguably the best thing put on tape

    (In no order)

    band of Brothers
    Game Of Thrones
    Breaking Bad
    Deadwood
    The Sorpranos

Also Some of those great mid to late 80's shows ( full house, growing Pains, etc) for nostalgia reasons.

I don't like Seinfeld, for the same reason I can't really get into Always Sunny. I want to empathize with at least one of the characters on a show. No real order:

    The Wire
    Community
    Game of Thrones
    Battlestar Galactica
    Party Down
    Frisky Dingo
    True Detective
    The Daily Show
    Friday Night Lights
    Star Trek: TNG/DS9

    The Wire
    Breaking Bad
    True Detective
    Seinfeld
    Game of Thrones
    It's Always Sunny
    Archer
    Louie
    Arrested Development
    Justified

This list doesn't go back that far, but I can't really think of any shows back "in the day" that would really trump the shows on TV lately.

Edit- forgot about Newsroom. It's up there, but only three seasons is a negative for me. Unlike True Detective where the one season was so damn good by itself.

Season 5 had moments, but the last few episodes were very bummy. At this point I'm glad they got 6 seasons, and hopefully the movie. But watching season 6 of community to me is like watching the Office without Steve Carell and Ed Helms. You're hoping for something more. It's down to only 4 of the original 7 of the group. Chang went from an outsider to part of the group. They've done a good job keeping the show respectable, but it's not where it was the first 3 seasons.

Some new ones that could get on there with a few more good seasons - True Detective, House of Cards, Better Call Saul, Homeland, Black Mirror, Vikings

I also have a handful that would be on the cusp. This is a great time for TV. So many good shows.

The Star Trek (TNG) finale episode was epic.
