Ok, and if Harper doesn't have debilitating injuries he is the best hitter in baseball...like he is showing this season.

And so far he's missed major time every year but his rookie year. Maybe that's a sign of a trend. He's a physical freak and a manchild, but he has worse injury issues than Jason Heyward.

Yes, if he keeps getting hurt he won't be the best hitter in baseball.

What I don't ignore is ability and Harper has more ability than any player in baseball.

You're also ignoring one of the best seasons OF ALL TIME by a guy who was 21.
If Harper does it all year, you have a point. SO far, Trout has done it for three years.

I'm not ignoring anything. I know how good Trout it (lest you forget I traded for him in our dynasty league after his drafted year).

I just can clearly see that Harper has hitting ability I haven't seen since Bonds.

That's great. And if he ends up with one of the best seasons ever, like Trout has (a couple of times, actually) then you have a point. So far it's been under 2 months.

I keep reading these posts and thinking you must have a hiccup in your autocorrect that substitutes "baseball" when you mean "April."

I believe Harper has that kind of ability, too, but let's wait until he's put together a full season of it before anointing him, eh?

But thats the thing isn't it? So if he does do this for a full season then at this current point in time I was right? I don't believe this is a fluke. Sure, nobody is going to OPS 1.2 for a full season (aside from steroid bonds) but this is the talent level he has and since he is finally healthy after his rookie sesaon he is doing it more consistently.

I just see it at this point as a mere formality that Harper is going to have dominant offensive seasons as long as he stays healthy. The guy is an absolute force at the plate.

This isn't some new thing just becuase of the season he is having. I have felt this way since I swa the kid play in his rookie season. Its only a matter of time until everyone else sees him as the best hitter.

You wouldn't get the backlash if you phrased things better, thethe.

Comparing the hitters (Harper a year younger), I could definitely see where it is possible that Harper becomes a better hitter (more patient, likely more power...in the future, not past couple years) but you kinda have to see him do it over the course of a full season before anointing him.

I think it logical to project Harper to be a slightly better hitter in the future, but inferior base runner and defender.

I remember having similar thoughts about Justin Upton after April the last two years

Martin sent down, Nick Masset signed, Cornely DFAd. I wonder if they're stretching Cody out? He's been awful lately but I'm interested.

I think Cody had early success because he threw a lot of strikes whereas hitters dont often see strikes thrown on 0-2 and 1-2 counts. Hitters adjusted and he has had problems ever since. His place is more of a long man in the pen or a 5th starter. Nothing wrong with that.

    7 games...thats a huge sample.

Come on now. He had a dominant April that year and had a bad 7 games then got hurt.

Forgive me if I don't think you proved me wrong here.
